Our client is a small but well known and rapidly growing Construction company who is seeking someone that can join their Accounting team as the right-hand person to the CFO. The position is open to candidates that are currently in a Senior Accountant role but looking to quickly move into an Accounting Manager role or to already experienced Accounting Manager. Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager position reports directly to the CFO. The candidate will provide oversight over all construction accounting projects. This person will be responsible for billing, job costing, month-end accounting processes, financial statement compilation and analyses and maintaining financial records in compliance with GAAP and Company policies. This will include monitoring of value enhancing budgets, reporting significant transactions, and ensuring the proper accounting treatment while providing construction professionals with project analysis on demand. A thorough understanding of the construction industry and the construction process is preferred, but not required.

Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Post journal entries and accruals

  • Manage all month-end and year-end processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting

  • Conduct cash flow planning, analysis and reporting

  • Tax administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll (Paychex Flex)

  • Conduct balance sheet analysis and account reconciliations

  • Process all banking, loans, interest and intercompany reconciliations

  • Analyze and maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules

  • Coordinate annual financial and insurance audits

  • Assist with forecast/budget preparation and analysis

  • Assisting in account analysis and account coding

  • Reconciling account balances

  • Processing billing adjustments and refunds

  • Fact-checking invoices for payment and processing

  • Preparing and approving POs

  • Monitoring vendor statements, wire transfer requests, and other transactions

  • Develop executive level analysis of company’s value enhancing portfolio budgeting

  • Accurately and efficiently manage the tracking of budgets

  • Review and approve all daily construction activity

  • Develop executive level reports & analysis related to project costs.

  • Develop and manage work-in process as it relates to job costing.

  • Oversee and develop departmental controls, goals, initiatives.

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual construction related financial reporting.

Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred or relative experience

  • Construction accounting and/or percentage completion accounting strongly preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with staff at all levels

  • Proven analytical skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

  • Hands-on, working knowledge of QuickBooks is a Must

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advance knowledge of Excel required

  • Experience with Job Costing Systems & or AIA Billing a Plus
