Hyland Security Engineer 4 in Westlake, Ohio

Overview

The Security Engineer 4 is responsible for acting in an advisory capacity for security-related matters department-wide and leading and contributing to multiple security-related development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Advise R&D staff and management on security-related matters

  • Partner with departmental leadership to define new secure coding policies

  • Lead security-related development projects

  • Create, design, and assist in the implementation of security-related consumable code

  • Mentor other team members

  • Conduct security-related code reviews for R&D staff

  • Participate in security requirement and design meetings as needed

  • Identify and initiate opportunities for security-based enhancement to the product suite

  • Provide guidance to teams during threat modeling exercises

  • Maintain strong knowledge of secure development practices

  • Develop strong knowledge of accepted company coding practices

  • Research new attack vectors and stay current with cybersecurity news and trends

  • Lead customer calls or other outside assistance requests

  • Deliver security-related training to company staff as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent relevant experience

  • Minimum 10 years development experience including minimum 5 years direct security experience

  • Excellent knowledge of security principles

  • Experience programming in structured languages

  • Working understanding of object oriented concepts

  • Excellent knowledge of enterprise design patterns

  • Expertise in at least one security-related knowledge domain (e.g. cryptography, network security, exploit development, web security, etc.) and working knowledge of several others

  • Demonstrated collaboration and teaching abilities

  • Excellent ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to all levels

  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally

  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to delicately communicate with customers about sensitive and high-risk information

  • Demonstrated competency in presenting and delivering training

  • Working business knowledge

  • Offensive Security Certified Professional certification or equivalent

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
