General Electric Sr Enterprise Application Engineer in West Chester, Ohio

Role Summary:

In joining our Operations team, you will be responsible for the health and hands-on administration of our Enterprise Scheduling platform. You will contribute as a key subject matter expert while delivering improvements to our architecture and processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Be the Product Engineering/Technology Leader for Appworx (Applications Manager) / CA Automic One Automation Platform (installation, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring and backups and a variety of user requests)

  • Liaison to Aviation APM team (Configuration Item (CI) configurations in ServiceNow and CMDB)

  • Host and facilitate (Kanban) meetings: Daily Standup, Retrospective, Backlog Grooming, Plaining, and Feature Review

  • Design and maintain monitoring solutions for our platforms

  • Manage application licensing

  • Design new environments and implement upgrades of existing environments

  • Run daily operations team calls

  • Skillset must extend to implementing and supporting environmental topology with a focus on Failover, High Availability and Disaster Recovery

  • Triage production issues and work with development teams on supporting enhancements

  • Escalate issues with other teams (infrastructure, DBAs, developers, software vendors)

  • Own software patches and upgrades; work with vendors for ongoing maintenance and support

  • Track and document all reported problems

  • Complete tasks, reporting status and work assignments as needed in a timely fashion

  • Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goal

  • Possess advanced domain knowledge and show great customer focus. Expert in processes / methodologies and skilled in build, release & deployment processes

  • Drive customer communication during critical events

  • Write tutorials, how-to videos, and other technical articles for the customer community and knowledgebase articles and keep them up-to-date

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and work with global teams


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or high school diploma/GED or equivalent with at least 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree

  • A minimum of 5 years in application support role or administering large scale IT applications

Eligibility Requirements:

Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience and familiarity with SDLC methods

  • Excellent communicator; fluent in verbal and written English and ability to organize/articulate ideas

  • A good understanding of business processes spanning multiple IT systems and orgs to effectively prioritize customer support activities

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience in managing third parties to deliver technology solutions and applications

  • Knowledge of IT Security & Compliance, system administration, LDAP, and scripting

  • Experience with production support, escalation, error handling, and change management procedures (ITIL)

  • Experience in Appworx (Applications Manager) and CA Automic One Automation Platform

  • Possesses facilitation and influencing skills to develop long term relationships with key stakeholders

  • Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals

  • CA Agile Central (formerly Rally)

  • Competent with open source tools and technologies

  • Experience with HP SiteScope
