PENDLETON WOOLEN MILLS Production Supervisor in Washougal, Washington

JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Department Manager in supervising a fast-paced three-shift Finish Department of a vertically integrated textile mill, manufacturing superior fabrics and yarns from virgin wools and other high-grade materials to satisfy the textile needs of Pendleton's Menswear, Womenswear, Blanket and Home Divisions, other apparel manufacturers and contract furniture manufacturers. Determine operations to produce products and develop processes to ensure quality, cost, and efficiency requirements are met. Troubleshoot problems with production and take corrective action. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise employees of Finishing department, ensuring the safety of all employees Schedule work, set the pace of work, review work, and evaluate employee performance to standards Train employees in accordance with work instructions and training requirements, verify the training was effective, and document completed training on the employee's training record Communicate with other shift supervisors about current process situations at each machine, and priorities that may exist Assist operators in times of difficulty with fabric or machine and ensure that machine breakdowns are addressed immediately to ensure quality of fabric is maintained Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies, and work rules in accordance with the department manager's expectations Calibrate equipment and monitor preventive maintenance program Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems to ensure and improve the safety, quality, cost effectiveness, and efficient manufacture of products Develop measurement systems to analyze and control quality, cost, and efficiency of production to meet company deadlines Conduct trials to develop or improve cost effective and efficient processes to ensure quality product Ensure production sheets, set tickets, operational specifications for each machine are completed according to requirements Work closely with department managers and shift supervisors to ensure and improve quality control, cost effectiveness, and efficient production Analyze problems, determine root causes, and prepare Preventive and Corrective Action Reports Cover for Department Manager's or other Shift Supervisors' absences when necessary Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations Perform other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Self-motivated, hands-on individual with keen interest in quickly learning and applying new skills Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision Capable of working independently and collaboratively in teams Possess superior analytical and problem solving skills and be detail-oriented Working knowledge of mechanical, chemical, and thermal systems Strong leadership skills with experience in influencing and managing change Demonstrated project management skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and easily adapt to changing priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move about the production mill Education /Experience: High school diploma/GED required Associate's degree preferred Experience in a manufacturing environment with 3 or more years in a supervisory role Background in process engin
