Position Summary

Grant Thornton’s responsive, partner-led Tax service teams help dynamic companies navigate complexity and grow with insightful, practical tax advice. In addition to tax professionals across the United States, our Washington National Tax Office provides deep technical knowledge and responsive support in local, state, federal and international tax. Our tax services include: compliance, human capital services, federal tax services, international tax services, state and local tax services, private wealth services, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, not-for-profit tax, and mergers & acquisition tax services.

There is currently an opportunity for a full-time position for a Tax Senior Associate in the Accounting Methods and Periodsgroup in the Washington National Tax Office (WNTO).The Tax Senior Associate would serve as a tax technical resource as part of a team that supports practice offices withanalyzingthe federal income tax treatment of accounting methods, depreciation, inventories, accounting periods, etc. In addition, the Tax Senior Associate supports technical training, analyzes current developments, and assists with drafting thought leadership for release within the firm and to our clients, among other duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Assist with researching and consulting on complex, federal income tax technical issues specific to Accounting Methods and Periods, including revenue recognition, expense recognition, depreciation, inventory, leasing, Section 1031 exchanges, and accounting periods. * Review Forms 3115 for changes in accounting methods and Forms 1128 for changes in accounting periods. * Perform quality review of documentation and computations for projects such as cost segregation studies, repairs studies, and inventory studies. * Draft memoranda and opinions regarding tax advice. * Track new developments from Congress, Treasury, the IRS and the courts. * Draft internal and external tax communications discussing new developments that impact our clients. * Collaborate with other specialty groups on issues that intersect with other technical matters such as international, corporate and partnership tax, as well as with advisory and audit. * Assist with firm-wide and external training to enhance the knowledge of firm professionals and clients. * Assist with the development of tools that will be utilized by our firm to provide quality service to our clients. * Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards.
