CVS Health Specialty Pharmacy Technician - 40 Hours - Northwest Washington DC in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description

As a Pharmacy Technician – Care Plus, you will be working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, and work to ensure patients receive specialty medication in a timely manner while providing excellent customer service. The Pharmacy Technician is essential to ensuring medication has been filled correctly so it can positively impact the lives of others. The Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for accurately entering prescription information as needed, contact patients to arrange delivery or set a pickup date, perform refill reminder calls, accurately fill medication orders, prepare orders for delivery, packing/shipping medication orders via various carriers for final delivery to the patient, maintaining adequate inventory, managing inventory functions, helping walk-in customers, performing cash register transactions.

As part of the Pharmacy Technician – Care Plus team, you will you will be leading an innovative and bold initiative aimed at transforming health care and pharmacy leveraging new and emerging information, technologies and channels.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Customer Focus

  • Problem Solving

  • Understanding pharmaceutical calculations

  • Working with basic computer programs

Pharmacy is open Monday - Friday: 8am -6pm, Saturday: 9am-2pm

For those with a Pharmacy Technician registration in the surrounding states, CVS will reimburse for the initial cost to obtain /reciprocate your Pharmacy Technician registration in Washington DC in exchange for a one year employment commitment.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have active/pending registration as a pharmacy technician with the District of Columbia Board of Pharmacy (For those with a Pharmacy Technician registration in the surrounding states, CVS will reimburse for the initial cost to obtain /reciprocate your Pharmacy Technician registration in Washington DC in exchange for a one year employment commitment.)

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

-Shift is 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be flexible and enjoy working in a fast paced, team oriented environment

  • One year of experience in a retail environment is strongly preferred.

  • Previous telephone customer service and pharmacy experience preferred.

  • Previous Prior Authorization experience is a plus

  • Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred


Verifiable High School diploma or GED is required.
