KPMG is currently seeking an Associate General Counsel to join our Office of General Counsel (OGC) which is part of KPMG's Legal, Regulatory and Compliance organization.


  • Oversee client engagement and vendor contract issues relating activities of Latin America member firms, including but not limited to standard form contracts and master services agreements, technology licensing agreements, procurement agreements and other types of commercial agreements; Supervise the implementation of standard terms and conditions for the Latin America region, with appropriate modifications to accommodate local law and practice, consistent with Global network norms and protocols

  • Advise on mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint venture and shared services agreements in Latin America region; provide support for corporate governance matters in Latin America, including providing advice on KPMG member firms’ organizational restructuring, admission of new firms to the KPMG network and member firms’ adherence to KPMG network standards

  • Interface with both Regional and Global legal, compliance and risk management functions on matters such as governance, deployment of technology and innovations, data privacy and information security

  • Represent KPMG in cross-border litigation, arbitration and regulatory investigations relating to Latin America activities, including disputes arising in Latin America and disputes arising in the US

  • Advise on issues relating to US economic sanctions and export controls, securities, licensing, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, confidentiality, privacy and information protection and other laws regulating economic activity of professional services firms in the US and Latin America; Supervise and work collaboratively with outside US and Latin American counsel, and other members of OGC, to deliver the highest quality legal representation to the Firm and its leaders

  • Take on additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • Minimum twenty years of experience with a leading law firm and/or large corporate environment working with clients and counsel in Latin American jurisdictions on: cross-border transactions (technology experience a plus); corporate governance; market practice; complex civil litigations and regulatory investigations involving accounting firms, similar professional organizations or financial institutions (e.g., defense of professional malpractice and securities class action suits claims and responding to investigations by the SEC, PCAOB, Internal Revenue Service, Department of Justice, state Attorneys General, state boards of accountancy and other professional associations and law enforcement agencies from investigation through administrative hearing and appeals), as well as similar experience in Latin America

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in New York; additional admission in a Latin America jurisdiction is a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product and results

  • Client-service orientation with the ability to create effective working relationships cross-functionally, including interfacing with internal and external stakeholders on legal and business matters

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish; Portuguese language skills is a plus

  • Demonstrable ability to lead a team and willingness to travel
