Georgetown Univerisity Project Manager / Coordinator - McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, District Of Columbia

The Project Manager / Coordinator helps to develop and support interdisciplinary research in the Massive Data Institute (MDI). The incumbent supports different grants in the Data Blending area of MDI and helps MDI research faculty in that area advance their research agenda by coordinating different interdisciplinary research events, workshops, promoting special events, managing summer programs for students, and helping create online research stories for different projects. S/he monitors project plans, schedules, work hours, organizes and participates in workshops and meetings, and ensures that project deadlines are met. Reporting to Professor Lisa Singh, the Project Manager / Coordinator has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains and monitors project plans, project schedules, work hours, expenditures, and other projects as needed.

  • Organizes, attends, and participates in meetings and workshops.

  • Documents and follows up on important actions and decisions.

  • Prepares necessary materials for meetings, ensuring that deadlines are met.

  • Undertakes project tasks as required.

  • Develops project strategies and assesses risks and issues.

  • Maintains project web-pages and other duties as assigned.

Work Interactions

This hire will support use of MDI research mission focused on interdisciplinary research related to big data. The project coordinator will help Lisa Singh with her research agenda, focused on increasing interdisciplinary research on campus and support two recently awarded grants.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing or a related discipline; Technical background such as a minor in Computer Science is a plus

  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office applications, statistical packages, and having strong verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Strong written and verbal skills with high self-motivation and an understanding of basic statistics

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and to work on tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with WordPress

  • Experience planning and coordinating events and workshops

  • Knowledge of data science research

  • Program development and administration experience
