CACI International Junior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Description

CACI is seeking a Junior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to provided comprehensive technical support including analysis, evaluation and integration of ship specifications, Department of Defense (DoD) and military standards, Navy standard drawings, technical manuals, and other references.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Provide analysis and recommendations on shipyard design products delivered per the Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL), plus condition reports, requests for deviation or waiver, and Engineering Change Proposals. The scope of analysis covered technical evaluation, technology maturity assessment, risk management, cost estimating, and schedule assessment

  • Review of military standards used in amphibious assault class spec and recorded most current versions and their applicability

  • Modified and maintained systems such as Potable Water and Auxiliary Seawater AutoCAD drawings to incorporate design changes

  • Drafted system report for systems such as Hot and Cold Potable water system that includes all design proposals and analyzed impact

  • Reviewed spec sections for distributed auxiliary systems, evaluated requirements and measured impact of proposed DDM etc.

  • All Solutions included General Arrangement, equipment, and process suggestions

  • Participate in Ship Concept design

  • Reviewed Trade Studies to provide recommendations on feasible implementation on a future ship

  • Geometrical modeling and data transfer

  • CFD data meshing and computations at HPC: visualization of results and analysis

  • Development of integrated computational processes and execution of multiple computations with different pieces of software

  • Design synthesis and ASSET/Paramarine based studies in various disciplines areas

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or similar

  • Must have Knowledge of ship systems

  • Must have knowledge in reviewing engineering drawings and specifications

  • Ability to write clear reports and specifications in English

  • Ability to interface with team members, technical leads and Project Managers

  • Ability to work alone on individual projects with supervision and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members

  • Proficient with MS Excel for calculations, Word, and Powerpoint

  • Good verbal (English) communication skills

  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a secret clearance

  • Willingness to focus on technical growth and excellence; personal goal to work at cutting edge of modern design technologies and competitiveness

  • Some knowledge in machinery Control Systems and Automation/Controls

  • Willingness to focus on technical growth and excellence; personal goal to work at cutting edge of modern design technologies and competitiveness

  • Computer literacy with software integration issues, geometrical modeling and visualization software

  • CFD computations experience

  • Ship Concept design experience and knowledge of some of the discipline areas; willingness to focus on ASSET/Paramarine tools applications

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Some Knowledge in machinery Control Systems and Automation/Controls
