We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Justice Programs team in Washington, DC. In this position, you will support the Enterprise Management System (EMS) Tools, used 24/7/365 days a year. Support will be provided during normal duty hours Monday through Friday, Eastern Standard Time (EST), excluding Federal holidays. The Systems Engineer will be expected to work 1,920 hours per year.
Senior Systems Engineer:EMS Tools
The Systems Engineer will provide technical support that includes Project skills, Operations and Maintenance, Administration, and implementation skills for theMicro Focus Operations Bridge Tool Suite (formerly HPE Software) for an Enterprise Management System (EMS).
The Systems Engineer will have experience providing daily administrative tasks and maintenance of the Micro Focus (formerly HPE Software) Operations Bridge Tool Suite and other EMS tools listed below.
Administration of the EMS tools includes but is not limited to:
o Monitoring availability and performance of the EMS tools
o Performing day-to-day processes and activities to manage and maintain availability, health and performance of the EMS tools at acceptable Service LevelsÔConfigure alerts according to user needs and requirements
o Create custom monitoring policies and reporting as needed
o Initiate data collection on managed nodes
o Configure and generate Availability and Performance reports
o Create specialized reports upon request
o Installing, configuring, testing and deploying EMS tools as needed
o Training IT staff and end users to use the tools as needed
o Knowledge transfer to other EMS team members,
o Leveraging automation (e.g. tools, programs or scripts) and standards as part of the daily administration (care and feeding) of the EMS tools
Operations and Maintenance (O&M):
The Systems Engineer will have experience providing operational care and feeding and maintenance of the Micro Focus (formerly HPE Software) Operations Bridge Tool Suite and other EMS tools.
Additionally, O&M support will be provided on an occasional basis outside these hours, either arranged in advance or in support of critical incidents.
Support includes, but is not limited to these activities:
o Perform routine maintenance including but not limited to: patching of operating system and applications
o Troubleshooting and problem resolution of EMS tool incidents and problems
o Recommending and carrying out projects under the guidance of the technical or government lead to improve tool performance , to bring systems, applications and services under management
o Perform EMS tool software upgrades as needed
o Prepare and support EMS servers during Data Center move initiatives
o Coordinate with other teams both within and external to the IT Services Division as required.
o Improve processes and procedures. Configuration and change activities are also included in this activity.
Minimum/General Experience: Must have a Bachelors (BA/BS) degree and at least eight years related work experience.
Skills/Experience: The Sr. Systems Engineer must have knowledge in one or more of the following tool areas:
Required) Experience with the Micro Focus Operations Bridge Tool Suite (HP Operations Manager tool suite) or:
o BMC TrueSight Operations Management
o CA Unified Infrastructure Management
o IBM Tivoli Monitoring
o Experience with other tools or Critical Applications: (preferred but not required)
o Operations Bridge Reporter (OBR)
o Operations Bridge Analytics (OBA)
o Business Value Dashboard (BVD)
o Universal Configuration Management Data Base (uCMDB)
o Active Directory
o MS Exchange
o MS Skype for Business
o SQL Server
Experience with any of these Operating Systems (preferred but not required)
o Windows 2016 OS
o RHEL v7.4
