Abbott HCP Channel – Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) [Mid Atlantic] in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

POSITION: HCP Channel – Thought Leader Liaison (TLL)

Supporting the fast-growing Abbott Diabetes Care business, home to the FreeStyle Libre glucose monitor.

POSITION SUMMARY

OBJECTIVE: This individual will work within commercial compliance, legal and regulatory guidelines to perform the following:

  • KOL engagement

  • Attend Local and National Conferences

  • Liaising with marketing and sales leadership

  • Identification of and engagement with strategic accounts

The TLL will work closely with field sales management and home office-based colleagues (e.g., marketing, and market access). This role will report through the US Commercial organization.

The TLL must demonstrate a high level of clinical and customer knowledge. The TLL should have experience with both field sales and home office protocols and procedures. The TLL should demonstrate an ability to engage health care professionals and inform the execution of current and future marketing and disease-state strategies. TLLs are responsible for developing and executing engagement strategies.

The TLL must be able to:

  • Identify strengths and opportunities needed to deliver a winning KOL value proposition to key stakeholders

  • Develop and execute an engagement and communication plan for the regional and local opinion leaders.

  • Ability to evaluate and identify current standard of care gaps across different stakeholder groups and perspectives

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion the marketing and on label strategy by having meaningful discussions with KOLs.

  • Facilitate speaker excellence, including leadership of the identification, coaching, and monitoring of ADC speaker’s bureau

  • Collaborate with home-office marketers and cross-functional colleagues on planning and execution of national and regional commercial advisory boards

  • Collaborate with field colleagues to identify and pull-through sponsorship opportunities with local and regional patient advocacy organizations

  • Gather, synthesize, and communicate timely and strategically relevant KOL and field insights

  • Identify and work regularly with appropriate internal and external resources (e.g., agencies and vendors) to support regional marketing strategies and activities

  • Follow all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of all activities

  • Be accountable for being fully knowledgeable of, and abiding by, all relevant policies

  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of ADC activities

  • Business travel, by air and/or car

ACCOUNTABILITY

KOL Engagement

  • Develop a strong engagement with KOLs, providing access for ADC engagement, as needed by US Commercial leadership

  • Execute the US Commercial strategy for KOL engagement activities

  • Develop a regional KOL engagement strategy by identifying, profiling, cultivating and maintaining long-term engagement with KOLs

  • Appropriately gather market intelligence and information to support overall business strategy

  • To serve as a resource for commercial teams regarding KOL landscape and expertise within the diabetes management community

  • Support marketing in management of speakers and consultants

  • Collaborate with marketing for compliant selection and nomination of speakers for peer-to-peer programs, and product theaters

  • Collaborate with scientific affairs team for training and onboarding of KOL speakers, consultants, and advisors using approved decks and materials

KOL Engagement at National and Regional Conferences

  • Plan and execute product theaters, pear to pear initiatives and field visits.

  • Present sponsorship opportunities when appropriate

Liaising with marketing and sales leadership - Market Insights

  • Capture feedback derived from marketing needs through live interactions with targeted customers and KOLs

  • Work with targeted KOLs to obtain feedback on brand-related marketing strategies/materials for CGM use and diabetes management

  • Participate as member of cross-functional marketing team(s) to provide feedback on strategy, messaging, and tactical execution and novel programming ideas and concepts

  • Help with the facilitation and cross-functional planning, recruitment, and execution of regional and national commercial advisory boards, capturing feedback to inform marketing decisions

  • Provide competitive intelligence appropriately gained through interactions to help shape strategy

  • Provide recommendations for ADC commercial advisory board participants

  • Provide speaker nominations and recommendations to marketing

Identification of and engagement with Strategic Accounts

  • Assist with on-label KOL speaker onboarding, including identification and/or /coaching of promotional speakers with approved slide decks and materials

  • Attend live HCP TLLs region programming to observe, coach, and remediate the speaker where necessary to ensure compliant execution of content

  • Work with the marketing team on new content creation and existing content updates, as well as, new and innovative programing ideas

  • Manage monthly reporting on approved Speaker Program KPIs. Serve as the single point of contact for speaker logistic / scheduling and working cross functionally to ensure appropriate communication

EDUCATION

  • BA or BS degree required, and Master or advanced degree preferred

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Experience within the diabetes management community

  • A minimum of five years of work experience in one or more of the following: field sales, product marketing, agency or medical/clinical experience in the diabetes therapeutic area within the medical device, pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Ability to assemble and lead cross-functional teams toward a shared vision of success

  • Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience

  • Strong demonstrated organizational skills

  • Strong demonstrated project management experience, including superior analytical and planning skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to execute against strategic and tactical plans under tight timelines

  • Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary

  • Valid driver's license

  • Must reside within the geographic area of the assigned geography, or within a reasonable distance as determined by leadership
