We now have an exciting opportunity for a Multi Skilled Handyman / Handyperson Maintenance Operative to provide reactive and planned maintenance as part of our South East based NHS Maintenance Healthcare team in Essex. Rydon is a successful construction, development, maintenance, investment and management group operating throughout England, predominantly in London and the southern counties. We are a dynamic, multi talented organisation, working across a wide range of construction market sectors within the built environment.

Rydon Maintenance is an expanding division of the Rydon Group and is successfully providing facilities management services to a variety of clients, predominantly within the healthcare and housing association sectors.

Working from our Redbridge LIFT contract, based around the Walthamstow and Chigwell areas you will maintain a number of sites that deliver primary care services.

As part of this role, you will work in a 'multi-trade' role providing repairs on a reactive basis with a particular emphasis on general handyman works to include changing of light fixtures/light bulbs, carpentry, replacing door handles and locks, painting and decorating and some basic plumbing (changing taps, washers). general wear and tear maintenance (filling of holes/retouching, light plastering).

In addition to reactive repairs, there will also be some planned maintenance activities such as planned upgrade works, refurbishment as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe environment for service users. You will work in a live secure healthcare environment and as such its important that proper protocols are followed at all times to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for staff and service users.

Normal working hours are 8am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. There is also the opportunity to participate in an on-call rota system (which offers the opportunity to increase your earnings and be involved in additional urgent repairs).

You will be provided with a company van, fuel card, PDA, uniform and excellent training/development as part of this varied and genuinely diverse opportunity.

Previous relevant experience in the maintenance of buildings is essential, ideally within the NHS. This experience might have been gained working directly for the NHS, or a maintenance contractor providing services within the NHS. We will also consider candidates with experience of maintaining commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have the ability to undertake carpentry/joinery, ironmongery (replacing door handles, locks etc) and basic landscaping/gardening skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and be passionate about providing high quality repairs.
