CDM Smith Structural Engineer 6 in United States
CDM Smith has been selected as the construction supervision consultant for a major highway project, which consists of widening existing highway with bridges, interchanges, intersections and associated works.
We are currently searching for a Senior Structural Design Engineer (Bridges) who has experience on complex design and construction projects to work for CDM Smith on this project.
•In this role, you will be involved in the planning, design, and coordination of engineering activities for various structural projects, that could start from the pre-design/feasibility phase to the construction phase. You will be supervising or leading a team of engineers on various projects for bridge/tunnel projects. We expect you to use your technical expertise, to oversee designs, interface with Client in the region (mainly RTA & Ashghal) and ensure projects are meeting schedule, technical and budget requirements. You may be involved in various types of analyses, including load rating analysis, finite element analysis, redundancy analysis, etc.
•Develops the scope of engineering work, schedules, and budgets for assigned project elements, and monitors progress to meet schedule and budget requirements. Identifies and documents changes in scope.
•Assists in determining the scope of procurement work, schedules.
•Coordinates the utilization of interdisciplinary technical personnel on the project with other Project Engineers. Coordinates the assignment of personnel from other technical support groups within the company.
•Prepares technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management
•Responsible to review as-built structural drawings for compliance with issued for construction drawings.
•Reviews proposed structural engineering changes received from the contractors and advises the Construction Manager or Assistant Construction Manager of any potential issues.
•Works with the Construction Team to define workable structural engineering solutions as required for the construction package(s) assigned.
•Reviews method statements and provides comments related to structural engineering designs.
Provides answers to structural engineering-related RFIs in conjunction with the Design Team and Engineer.
•Conducts periodic inspections to determine if structural works have been done in accordance with contract specifications.
•Supports the inspection and monitoring of piling installation to ensure location and bearing.
•Calls for additional testing or repeat testing as required.
•Prepares periodic special reports summarizing structural engineering-related issues related to construction activities.

CDM Smith Employment Type:
•Shall be qualified with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an internationally recognized accredited University.
•10-15 years or greater graduate experience of related bridge design and project engineering is required. Incumbent should have a broad general technical and business background.
•Professional registration is required.
•Bridge Design/Build experience is preferred.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
