Sr. Accountant

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing including generating queries, reconciling, and analyzing data in preparation of financial reports for clients.

  • Prepare and provide journal entries to clients to record activity for contracts administered by the Company.

  • Approve checks for incentive payouts, bonuses and other activity for the Company’s clients.

  • Compile and reconcile outstanding check list for clients.

  • Identify errors and communicate internally to appropriate channels for resolution.

  • Communicate with client partners to resolve issues to meet customer needs.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain workload within designated time frames.

  • Adhere to department’s guidelines as well as company’s procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

The position requires complex problem solving skills related to identifying and rectifying issues among operations, IT and accounting.

  • Take Initiative, Identify Issues and bring them to Resolution: The employee will be reviewing and auditing reports for the Company’s clients that rely on us to account for their business. Occasionally transactions are processed incorrectly or outside the given parameters, which cause reports to be out of balance or contain other errors. The employee will be responsible for identifying the root cause of the issue, communicating it to the appropriate internal personal and tracking the resolution of the issue.

Qualifications:

College undergraduate degree in accounting. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SQL and ability to use both tools to analyze and interpret data. Strong analytical and reconciliation skills. Excellent and effective communication and presentation skills. Prior experience in the insurance or auto industry is a plus. Prior public accounting or internal auditing experience a plus.
