PositionSenior Systems Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:This is a full time position providing support at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.


  • Provide systems engineering support for the IT and IA formulation and implementation of COMSEC equipment into the LCRD Flight and Ground Segment.

  • Assist with concept and technology development, preliminary design and technology completion, final design and fabrication, system assembly, integration and test, launch, and operations.

  • Interface with the LCRD Chief Security Officer (CSO) regarding IT/IA/COMSEC implementation on LCRD Flight and Ground Segments

  • Attend and support various meetings/reviews: technical interchange meetings, reviews, status meetings, configuration management, risk management, etc.

  • Prepare and provide network diagrams, memorandums, and reports as requested/needed.

  • Identify/develop/maintain IA/IT/COMSEC requirements and document. Show links to the mission level or next higher-level requirements if required

  • Provide technical leadership for the design, development, integration, and test of the IA/IT/COMSEC equipment in support of the LCRD Flight and Ground Segments

  • Identify and address technical problems and recommend solutions.

  • Perform risk identification and assessment.

  • Prepare the appropriate documents - requirements, interfaces, etc. showing traceability

  • Review and assess the test plans and procedures, and verification of the requirement compliances.

  • Maintain/assure interface compliance of COMSEC equipment during Integration & Test and Mission Operations.

  • Support for the activities involving COMSEC equipment integration during Integration & Test and Mission Operations.

  • Support launch site activities and the on-orbit checkout involving the COMSEC equipment.

Position Requirements


Minimum Experience

Senior Systems Engineer SME - 10 years of experience with IT/IA/COMSEC related work


  • Proficient with Systems Engineering, Information Technology, and Information Assurance, and COMSEC development, requirements definition and flow-down, instrument verification, technology readiness levels, etc.

  • experience with spacecraft digital design, manufacture, and test

  • Basic understanding and experience with NASA and/or DOD/lC satellite systems and architectures

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment

  • Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Office/Excel skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated sustained superior performance

  • Available to travel domestically



Senior Systems Engineer - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. Master’s Degree or PhD preferred but not required.
