Position Summary:

Harman’s Lifestyle Division is charged with re-energizing all of Harman’s Consumer Businesses. It coincides with the company committing to its largest ever Marketing investment, which includes opening our first Retail Stores in the US to drive brand awareness and sales. Harman is now looking to build a Manhattan retail team and needs a seasoned Retail Sales Associate.

This is an opportunity to be involved in a high energetic team, selling Harman’s high-end, cutting edge technology and multiple brand products in a fast paced environment at Harman’s flagship Retail Store in Manhattan, New York. This position will have the objective of achieving retail store sales targets and executing on key retail marketing projects. Responsibilities also include providing exceptional customer experiences, performing operational tasks connected to opening and closing the store as well as merchandising and assisting customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes customers by greeting them; offering them assistance.

  • Educate visitors on audio technology, specifically promoting Harman technology, brands and history

  • Advise customers by asking questions, determining needs and presenting products and features in a mature consultative manner

  • Assist customers make selections by establishing and maintaining rapport, offering suggestions and product options based on customer needs and sound quality.

  • Processes payments by totaling purchases; processing checks, cash, and store or other credit cards.

  • Contributes to team effort by meeting/exceeding established sales goals.

  • Assists customers with any product or service problems using company guidelines and by partnering with managers to resolve issues

Basic Qualifications:

  • Retail sales experience - Minimum of 3-5 years of high end consumer retail sales experience. Previous experience in large city, urban markets.

  • Consumer electronics experience – Experience working with major consumer electronics or products in the retail channel. Passion for Consumer Audio Technology and products preferred.

  • Communication Skills – Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical. Ability to speak multiple languages is preferred.

  • Engaging Personality – Ability to engage customers in conversation demonstrating maturity and connecting the employee to Harman products through skillful conversation and eloquence.

  • Education – 2 years Associates Degree, BA/BS preferred.

  • Customer Focus – Ability to meet customer needs and allay potential dissatisfaction with service or products offered in store while truly helping to find the best products and solutions for individual needs.

  • Drive for Results - Able to meet and exceed established sales goals

  • Strong consumer products orientation – Keen understanding of consumer wants and needs that can be effectively applied to market-winning retail sales strategies.

  • Good collaboration and Team Skills – Ability to effectively collaborate with the sales team, contribution to the overall effectiveness of the team.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekend days.
