Minimum Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in special education, reading, educational psychology or related discipline. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

-Two years of experience in an educational setting, with responsibilities including administration of learning assessments, development of academic support plans, working with academically at-risk students, collaboration with academic support professionals, and supervising experience.

-Knowledge of formal and informal diagnostic and assessment instruments and techniques for academic and career testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Coordinator of Learning Services is the lead Learning Specialist within Academic Services for Student Athletes.

Program Development and Evaluation: -Develop policies and procedures for referral, assessment, service delivery, documentation, and reporting in accordance with best professional practices. -Evaluate all services coordinated by learning specialists on annual basis and implement appropriate changes as needed.

Assessment and Educational Planning: -Provide educational screening and assessment for referred student athletes to determine individual learning needs and appropriate academic strategies. -Develop and implement individualized academic support plans for identified student athletes. -Design and implement academic support plans to address topics such as goal-setting, time management, organization, academic success strategies, and self-advocacy skills. -Coordinate academic support plans for assigned caseload of student athletes with academic support team, which includes Academic Advisors, tutors, Academic Graduate Assistants, and others. -Monitor academic progress for student athletes in assigned caseload and communicate regularly with members of academic support team. -Advocate for appropriate assistive technology resources for assigned student athletes and assist student athletes in connecting with these resources.

Collaboration and Referral: -Coordinate referrals as needed for identified student athletes with University Psychology Clinic or other appropriate professionals for psycho-educational testing. -Coordinate referrals and serve as program liaison with Office of Disability Resources. -Coordinate referrals to University academic support and campus resources. - Coordinate with advising staff to determine the number of study hall hours each student athlete needs. -Coordinate mid-term and final exam study sessions for all students in the Student Learning Center.

Documentation and Compliance: -Develop and implement service delivery procedures, including documentation, in compliance with relevant legislation and policies. (These include but are not limited to: FERPA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, NCAA and Sun Belt Conference bylaws, legislation and regulations). -Demonstrate commitment to and compliance with the University’s and Department of Athletics policies and procedures as well as the Sun Belt Conference, NCAA constitutions, bylaws, legislation and regulations. -Maintain confidential student records, in compliance with relevant legislation and policies. -Demonstrate commitment to academic integrity, and teach and model this commitment to students.

Supervision and Training: -Serve as a resource to Student Learning Center and Academic Services for Student Athletes staff, providing consultation and general training in areas such as understanding specific learning challenges and appropriate teaching strategies. -Supervise the recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluation of seven to ten Academic Graduate Assistants.
-Provide supervision for assigned Academic Graduate Assistants. Supervise one full time temporary post graduate intern.
- Supervise study hall program, including scheduling, locations, times and student athlete assignments. - Monitor and update the risk evaluation system at the end of each semester. Supervise the process while working with each advisor. Make recommendations each semester about the academic needs of each student athlete.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Three to five years of post-graduate experience in an educational setting, with responsibilities including administration of learning assessments, development of academic support plans, working with academically at-risk students, collaboration with academic support professionals, and supervising experience.

-Knowledge of the NCAA Eligibility requirements for student athletes.
