Utilize Kerry’s portfolio of ingredient and flavor products and processes to develop innovative, marketable food products that are profitable and within Kerry’s manufacturing capabilities, and execute Kerry Taste and Nutrition Strategy; Develop culinary Gold Standard recipes for international markets based on Kerry’s portfolio of ingredient and flavor products and processes to support Taste Creation; Develop and showcase strategic culinary applications of Kerry ingredient and flavor products globally via collaboration with EUMs, Channels, Customers and Technologies; Collaborate with Sales to engage in insight-led strategy development to support innovative product development and identify true Culinary Gold Standards from Customers; Showcase Kerry’s culinary applications to strategically targeted international accounts through intimate knowledge of Kerry products and processes, and Taste delivery strategy; Build credible customer partnerships with targeted growth accounts based on knowledge of Kerry technologies, functionalities and application impact in developing markets; Lead Application Chefs and Chef Associates; Support RD&A process by creating Culinary Gold Standards to directly support creation of flavors and multicultural Taste profiles; Identify sales opportunities through the lens of Culinary by developing an intimate knowledge of customers BOH operations, and feed customer-specific information back into the RD&A Technology groups; Establish a synergistic approach to aid developers in RD&A innovation; Role model DEED and Insight Sales in leading innovations and new customer insights by leveraging market trends, consumer insights, customer needs and gaps, and Kerry’s technologies; Develop Culinary relationships (Chef to Chef) and with other key customer leaders and decision-makers; Execute Taste training for Culinary Applications on finished products to tie into Menus and Culinary training for R&D and Chef Partner; Provide marketing and insight trends from a chef’s perspective. Conduct strategic review of marketing briefing regarding international project parameters and key drivers, including consumer-driven, application-driven, and customer-driven initiatives; identify and assess new and existing technologies mapping to client needs in international markets; explore potential enhancements and optimizations of Kerry products, technologies, and techniques as potential multicultural solutions; develop a range of concepts and solutions to meet clients’ global objectives utilizing Kerry’s existing products, technologies, and techniques, and their potential enhancements; develop strategy for multiple technology use for layered protection; develop first solution prototypes for tasting; conduct stability testing; consider and adapt enhancements and adjustments as needed for international applications; investigate and formulate single, multi, or integrated solutions to the client need; conduct initial cost-in-use calculations; manage and develop existing and future culinary innovations and products; and collaborate with marketing colleagues to carry out sensory testing, draft technical and commercial documentation, achieve consumer validation, and finalize international commercial propositions.
Position requires 35% to 50% travel. Mostly domestic travel, but can be international based on customer engagements and projects.
The Innovation Chef/Food Scientist position requires an Associate’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Nutrition or related field of study and three (3) of related work experience. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution in Culinary Arts, Food Science, Hospitality Management, Nutrition or related field of study and three (3) years of related work experience.
This position also requires experience with: i) Global culinary cooking techniques including wok cooking, open-fire grill cooking and Middle Eastern tandoori oven cooking; ii) Turning global foods trends into applicable industrial food ingredients for commercialized production; iii) Cross-talent utilization of culinary chefs, R&D, and sales account managers to global customers based in the U.S.; iv) Food marketing principles to develop customer-insight driven product development; and v) Utilizing culinary knowledge to give customer presentations.
