Marathon Petroleum Corporation Financial Analyst in United States
Investment Analysis and Leasing is responsible for preparing and reviewing various financial analyses for major capital projects, acquisitions, and divestitures. The financial analyst works closely with personnel from Business Development, Refining, Midstream, Retail, Light Product Supply & Logistics, Crude Supply & Logistics, and Marketing. Candidates must be highly motivated, a good communicator, comfortable presenting to senior management, and be able to work in a team environment. This position requires collaboration across multiple disciplines and effective presentation and communication skills, in support of various opportunities aligning with the company's strategy.
Provide financial analysis and consultation to MPC, MPLX and ANDX business units regarding major capital investments. Including developing financial models and Authorization Requests.
Participate as an active member of cross-functional teams, evaluating various acquisitions, dispositions and other capital investment opportunities. This includes communicating with the operating groups, Business Development, corporate Finance, Accounting, and Tax personnel regarding MPC's major projects, and preparing, presenting, and representing the teams’ analysis in front of senior management.
Evaluate lease proposals for various assets used in MPC, MPLX and ANDX.
Maintain and recommend changes from time to time to the Financial Analysis Guidelines.
Lead the Investment Risk Analysis process leveraging Monte Carlo techniques to quantify range of returns based upon varying key value drivers for investments.
Be knowledgeable of and provide interpretation of MPC's Policy 3001, Planning and Authorization of Facilities and Services, and Policy 4101, Authorization of Financial Activity.
Prepare Post Expenditure Review reports for selected investments as requested by management.
Degree: Bachelors Required
Major Discipline: Finance, Accounting, Business, or (Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics with related experience).
Experience Required: Previous commercial experience or project experience, and/or experience in finance, accounting or project analysis (i.e. Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR)). Additionally, it would be helpful to have an understanding of statistical analysis, risk management and Monte Carlo Analysis.
Computer Proficiencies: Experience with Excel spreadsheet applications and familiarity with Word and PowerPoint. Experience with simulation modeling tools such as Oracle Crystal Ball would be beneficial.
