Finance is comprised of the following departments: Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial & Business Systems, Global Systems Integration, Internal Audit, Loss Prevention, Risk Management, Rebates, Tax, and Treasury.

The Staples Summer Internship Program is full time position for 12 weeks. In addition to the regularly assigned work, all interns will have the opportunity to work on a cross-functional intern group project. The projects enable interns to work collaboratively with their peers on a cross-functional assignment that addresses a current business issue and challenges them to build on their knowledge base and skill set.

  • Provide timely and accurate financial analyses to Management throughout Staples to support strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Work side by side with the Finance manager and department

  • Communicate with field partners

  • Review current and new policies and procedures

  • Provide ad hoc reporting assistance

  • Opportunity to work on projects from beginning to end

  • Produce and distribute reporting on key initiatives/pilots


  • Rising senior or junior pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Minimum GPA 3.0

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

  • An interest in a career in Finance

  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills required, with particular emphasis on Excel


  • Strong problem solving ability and analysis skills

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  • Organizational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail
