Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:* *

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Plans, directs and coordinates the day-to-day operation to ensure the effectiveness of the department
  • Executes planned or corrective maintenance, repairs, installations and replacements within the hotel premises
  • Maintains the preventive maintenance program for all equipment installations, buildings, grounds, furniture and fixtures for maximum efficiency and best appearance
  • Maintain warm and hospitable relations in all interactions with guests and colleagues
  • Develop and coordinate necessary department training and guidance to improve its overall effectiveness of engineers and properly induct, orient, and train newly assigned personnel to meet department goals & objectives
  • Work with the Director to sustain and grow programs and service thru strategic planning
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Assist in the administrative functions of the department to ensure smooth and efficient operations which includes but is not limited to: creating budgets and tracking expenditures, performance reviews, guest issue follow-up, response to department inquiries, tracking of colleague work assignments, promulgating minutes of meetings attended, etc.
  • Support the organization's strategic alliances and partnership
  • Ensure performance goals are set and achieved
  • Attend and assist in the monthly Engineering Department Meetings
  • Represent the organization to the public, key stakeholders and business partner
  • Ensure good safety practices are in place for all employees and guests throughout the hotel
  • Assist in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures throughout the hotel
  • Prepares reports and provides technical input for all projects
  • Delegates specific responsibilities and proper authority to subordinates to ensure correct function of Engineering with its responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned
Employee Status

Qualifications:

  • Diploma, certificate or license in Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical or Marine Engineering

  • Sound technical knowledge in HVAC, laundry and kitchen equipment, refrigerators, mechanical repairs and all other building services

  • A minimum of five years of engineering experience with two years of working in a senior supervisory position

  • Must be able tocommunicate in a clear and concise manner

  • Must be able to organize and plan effectively

  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of all trades

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven track record of employee supervision and training

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good command of spoken and written English

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Able to lift anywhere from 10 to 50 pounds routinely and knowledge to rig material handling equipment to maneuver equipment heavier than 50 pounds safely
  • Wet or humid conditions
  • Work near moving parts
  • Fumes or airborne particles
  • Toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Outdoor weather conditions
