Managed Business Solutions GIS Senior System Administrator (Virtual Opportunity) in Virtual-USA, United States

MBS is seeking a team of GIS Senior System Administrators to support our client infrastructure environments. These are telecommuting (virtual) roles that support our federal clients and requires a US Citizenship.

The GIS Senior System Administrator team delivers technical solutions and support to clients allowing them to maximize their investment in enterprise systems technologies. The ideal candidates will have experience in client facing roles and success in operating within enterprise-scale system environments.

  • Operationally support and maintain Enterprise environments

  • Implementation/Support/Monitoring/Maintenance of Windows server (physical and virtual)

  • ArcGIS full stack installation and monitoring (Server/Portal/Datastore/Web Adapters)

  • Monitor hardware resource use and availability (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network)

  • Manage file systems and disk resources

  • Maintain Microsoft Active Directory end user group policies, accounts, permissions, and access rights

  • Complete Windows and software patching for systems on a manual and automated cycle

  • Manage and support security system scans, vulnerability mitigation and reporting for all systems on a manual and automated cycle

  • Support Configuration Management and software updates

  • Automate standard systems administration tasks and scripts

  • Maintain and update GIS software license servers

  • Configure, tune, and optimize the GIS server environments and products running on the server environments


  • ESRI GIS systems, Virtual Networks, Active Directory, Backup, Storage, Hyper-V, VMWare, Microsoft Direct Access, System Center, SAN, Firewalls, Web app proxies, PowerShell, Bash, Site-to-Site VPN, Windows Server, OSS Technologies, MS Direct Access, SQL Server, Exchange Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, DFS


  • Bachelor of Science degree in the field of computer science, information technology or equivalent experience

  • Five years (minimum 2 years GIS support) of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications (i.e. having an architectural sense for ensuring availability, reliability, etc.)

  • ArcGIS enterprise installation and support in complex enterprise environments

  • Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining GIS systems for access by multiple users and a sufficient understanding of workflow and GIS data layers and manipulation to troubleshoot, assess, and assist with providing IT support to complex GIS environments and issues

  • Experience in ArcGIS 10.x software and administration, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server

  • ArcGIS SDE geodatabase administration, ESRI ArcGIS Online/Pro, and ArcGIS Enterprise

  • Understanding of enterprise computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends

  • Ability to research and learn new technologies independently (self-motivated)

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through

  • Detail oriented with exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills, strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to work in a remote/telecommuting team-based environment


  • Three to five years senior (Tier 3) level support with cloud infrastructure as part of responsibilities

  • ArcGIS Online administration

  • Experience with user and systems management on Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop

Additional Requirements:

Position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background/reference check and drug test. A valid driver’s license is also required for this position.

  • Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal but can be load in server/colocation environments.
