Edwards Lifesciences HR Manager, Canada in Canada

Role Purpose:

  • This Manager will perform as a Human Resources Partner for all needs and deliverables in our Edwards operations in Canada.

  • This role will oversee and monitor all local HR activities such as Performance Management Plans, Policies, Payroll, Recruitment and Retention, Training and Development, and be an integral part of the Management Team for the country.

  • It is essential that the HR Manager also contributes to and leverages common HR practices and tools within the European and Global HR Team.

Major Job Functions:

  • He/ She will be responsible for:

  • Representing the HR function at country level and acting as an active member of the local management teams and delivering agreed roadmap objectives

  • Managing the entire HR life cycle in partnership and coordination with the EMEA HR Specialists (COE) and HR Business Partners, incl. activities such as:

  • Partnering with managers in coordinating Performance management, Talent Development and Salary review processes

  • Leading and/or cooperating on recruitment together with Talent Acquisition (managing relationships with agencies, ensuring process in Taleo, interviewing and running assessments, organizing logistics, employer branding events)

  • Securing best-in-class on-boarding process for new hires (incl. e.g. work permits, relocations, etc) and managing HR orientation onboarding

  • Ensuring compliance with the HR policies, procedures, internal/external audit controls, and Labor law

  • Managing employee relations and management consulting

  • Overseeing payroll preparation, submission and being responsible for validation of payroll data accuracy. ) Managing relationship with third party payroll provider for optimized payroll services

  • Managing and driving optimization of market competitive benefit programs (pension plan, ESPP, RSU, etc.)

  • Managing the exit process of employees leaving EW

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders (legal, finance, etc.)

  • Building and managing various employees’ programs (Wellness, local trainings)

  • Various HR administrative tasks, invoice admin, creating and maintaining local office HR policies,

  • HR budget planning

  • Supporting EMEA Country HR team as needed, contributing to EMEA HR projects, and responding to global requests

  • Representing company at third party HR events and developing relationships within relevant associations



Required Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor degree, major in either Human Resources or Legal

  • 7 years of progressively responsible experience in local as well as international HR

  • Results oriented and a strong sense of urgency; ability to prioritize rapidly and strong problem solving skills; excellent decision making/analysis skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent oral and written communications in French and English; effective interpersonal and relationship skills with the ability to influence and lead others;

  • Knowledge of negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem solving techniques.

  • Strong and proven business acumen and strategic thinking skills

  • Strong employee relations/investigation experience

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented with high level of energy

  • Able to work under minimum of supervision and in an international matrix organization

  • Very well organized person and detailed orientated

  • Experience in Swiss payroll management, pension scheme, equity and HR administration

  • Strong knowledge of local labor law,

  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Internet)

  • Excellent time management attitude

Required Experience:

  • Min. 5-7 years of similar experience within a multinational environment
