Provides key datasets and reports used for monitoring and analyzing the performance of the Personal Lines book of business. Provides support for department staff to help build out strategy recommendations to divisional and departmental leadership as well as strategic business unit (SBU) processes at the state, regional and corporate levels based on performance data and competitor actions. Produces, performs, and maintains metrics/reporting processes that provides decision-quality information. Acts as a liaison to other divisions to gather the necessary data to fulfill Personal Lines requests for reports, and collaborates with peers to test data and ensure data integrity.

  • This position requires travel up to 5% of the time

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service

  • Demonstrated experience consulting and working with leadership on complex dataset/reporting/metrics.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing data sets for wide-spread use.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing software tools to query and report data: SAS (Enterprise Guide and/or programming), Tableau, Essbase, Prophix, VBA, SQL, and Business Objects.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Microsoft Excel to build complex formulas and create reports.

Additional Job Information:

The Personal Lines Analyst/Sr Analyst is the primary information conduit for departments within Personal Lines Claims. Provides ongoing support for claim strategies, initiatives, and data requests. Provides deep expertise and insight into tool development, reporting and data needs for all functions on the policy lifecycle. Provides guidance through information, and recommendations as needed, to consider the financial impacts of proposed initiatives.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience with SAS, SQL, Tableau, and VBA (or be proficient in data visualization and dashboard design/development/automation).

  • Demonstrated experience manipulating, analyzing, and deriving insights from large datasets

  • Advanced mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking ability

Job Description:

Primary Accountabilities

Reporting and Analysis

  • Provides accurate and timely reports and analyses with detailed level of financial insights to PL leadership

  • Collaborates with PL business partners in the development and delivery of key financial reports and analyses

  • Ensures the accuracy and integrity of reports and analyses

  • Provides detailed analyses that explain drivers of financial performance

  • Develops proactive methods for evaluating PL performance and report on the drivers of deviations from plan

  • Provides information, analyses, and recommendations to the P&G process and SBU teams

  • Works closely with the Data Team and I/S to develop a data environment that enables speed and efficiency in the delivery of data insights

Decision Support

  • Assists PL business partners and senior financial analysts in developing operational metrics/reports that provide insight and accurate measures of performance and their impact on growth and profit

  • Identifies opportunities to improve business practices and procedures

  • Analyzes results and reviews initiatives to ensure alignment with short and long term strategies

  • Provides quantitative support and data-driven recommendations to PL business partners

  • Leverages both internal and external benchmarks to assess relative performance of top and bottom line initiatives
