To support the 3 strategic pillars stated above, we are currently looking for a:

Strategic Account Manager BD Netherlands


The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for identifying, managing and developing prioritized accounts in the health care segment (Hospital organizations, Health care associations, private labs & research, etc…) in order to position BD as strategic partner on executive board level for joint value creation and to support achieving the BD sales and GP and overall profitability targets. He or she will work close with the SMT (Sales Management Team) & MMT (Marketing Management Team) getting the support to drive locally the needed activities in a rapid changing environment where the remodeling of the landscape into consolidation via networks is a fact.


  • Serve as the key BDX interface between BD and Strategic Health Care organizations & associations, ensuring long term relationships with all relevant stakeholders (C suite and decision makers/influencers) of the assigned strategic accounts as the primary contact ensuring the value added solution proposals towards these stakeholders (including HEOR)

  • Achieve a deep understanding of the different BD Business strategies with the aim of defining the right entrance point with our customers and partners

  • Design and execute of a 3 year strategic plan for the assigned accounts

  • Responsible for leading the activities of the Strategic account team, as well as leading the virtual project team for solution implementation at our partners, including activation together with internal resources (Marketing, Business Analytics, Technical Service, Customer care service organization, Clinical, etc.)

  • Gather and actively share market knowledge and trends = High organizational Awareness

  • Report actively into the BLT (Business Leadership Team) conducting regular account performance reviews


  • Proven experience in sales in the health care market, as well as interpersonal people skills

  • Passion for customer & relationship management, the ability to understand and communicate effectively with individuals from a broad range of business and technical disciplines and an ability to influence these groups to achieve the objectives, both externally and internally

  • Strong board level communication skills and excellent business development skills

  • Profound know-how of BD product portfolio as well as the BD value propositions

  • Strong understanding of national healthcare system, its re-imbursement, hospital finance models and influencing dynamics

  • Deep understanding of hospital landscape to identify candidate hospitals and their needs which should be prioritized for the SAM approach

  • Proactive, pragmatic, organizational savvy, action and result orientated with a strong helicopter view
