Munson Medical Center System Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications in Traverse City, Michigan


Munson Healthcare is seeking a System Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications who is an experienced, motivated and well-organized marketing and communications professional, whose dedication and leadership will help propel the organization to achieve its most important goals and objectives. Reporting directly to the VP, Marketing and Corporate Communications, this role will lead the development and implementation of Munson Healthcare’s corporate marketing strategies, communications programs, and department operations.


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of marketing and communications experience, preferably in a complex, highly matrixed corporate or consultative environment. Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Diverse marketing experience spanning management of creative services, branding, digital marketing, marketing operations, and production.

  • Ability to think strategically and analytically, and make sound decisions quickly and efficiently to deliver multiple work streams on time and on budget.

  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.

  • Proven experience in conceptualizing marketing concepts that drive differentiation in a competitive market.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and team leadership of digital marketing technologies and strategies including website development, SEO, SEM, content management, and CRM and marketing automation platforms.

  • Experience in working with and building relationships with a broad cross-section of stakeholders and influencers.

  • Ability to motivate a diverse team through articulate, clear strategic direction and business rationale to ensure streamlined execution, impactful results, and appropriate resource utilization in an ever changing business environment.

  • Exceptional written, oral, and executive presentation skills.

  • Proven experience in processes improvement – ideally within a Marketing function.

  • Must be a results-driven individual with exceptional analytical skills in quantitative data analysis of program effectiveness, forecasting, and ROI, with the ability to translate results to various audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, CRM solutions, and marketing automation systems.

  • Oversees the development, planning, and execution of MHC marketing and communications strategies and vision, while leveraging digital and traditional marketing platforms including marketing automation, email marketing, social networking, search engine optimization, paid search, and corporate website.

  • Establishes and deploys scalable processes within the department that guarantee best practices to improve efficiency and maximize resources.

  • Provides senior leadership teams across MHC with ongoing data analysis and actionable insights to improve market share and decision making.

  • Accountable for annual budgets in partnership with VP, Marketing and Corporate Communications.

  • Oversees internal and external agencies and partners.

  • In collaboration with Physician Relations, continuously improves physician communication for Munson Healthcare. Works collaboratively with key stakeholders, hospital staff, management and physicians to improve communication and to increase understanding of physician needs and expectations while balancing the needs of Munson Healthcare.

  • Provides strategic direction to align and manage content strategy across all audiences and communications vehicles both internally and externally.

  • Assists in managing Munson Healthcare’s reputation, developing crisis communication strategies, and serves as the Public Information Officer for Munson Medical Center and other owned entities during emergencies.

  • Leads a team of highly skilled marketing and communications professionals across MHC.

  • Creates a trusting environment that ensures the free flow of new ideas and supports the creative process and career development of team members.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
