General Description

The Associate Product Manager is a key contributor to the overall brand team. They work closely with all functional areas including sales, operations, market research, distribution, finance and advertising, developing strong marketing and general management skills. They contribute to the strategic development and execution of business plans to deliver corporate revenue and profit targets, communicate the strategic vision for the business, and work with cross-functional teams to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate risk.

Responsibilities

  1. Support in the development of business plans and marketing programs.

  2. Translate business goals into action plans and build the appropriate contingency plans.

  3. Build strong relationships between brand marketing and other cross-functional areas and suppliers (Packaging & Brand Design, Market Research, Consumer Promotions, Sales, Advertising Agency, AC Nielsen) in order to leverage the overall power of a strong business team.

  4. Initiate and execute consumer promotion activity through appropriate in-house or outside agencies

  5. Management of the brand advertising and promotion budget.

  6. Use market data and findings to track business results, competitive activity and develop appropriate recommendations.

  7. Evaluate the performance of strategic programs and advertising campaigns to determine the effectiveness in meeting brand objectives.

  8. Contribute to the launch of new products, including leading research, packaging, product development and design, in-store and consumer programs and merchandising solutions.

  9. Demonstrate solid consumer insight and brand strategy development

  10. Effectively demonstrate strong financial skills and ability to evaluate financial implications of decisions,

Required Experience/Competencies

  • Broad business understanding and skills, as well as, a professional approach to problem solving.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong analytical skills – experience with AC Nielsen an asset

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Superior communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation.

Functional/Technical Experience

  • 3+ years consumer focused marketing experience, Food or Consumer Package Goods experience a plus

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Commerce
