Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic Hygienist - Community Dental Health Coordinator in Toppenish, Washington

Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic Location Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic City Toppenish Employment duration: Full time Exempt Status: Non-exempt Responsible for oral health assessments, primary and secondary preventative procedures, community outreach, patient advocacy, dental education, and dental services, dental care coordination, patient navigation, patient tracking and follow-up, and dental hygiene services. Dental services primary function includes periodontal treatment to patients and expanded duties (as allowable by law and as directed by the dentists), including use of technology and tele-communications for dental care, consultation, education and public awareness. The Community Dental Heath Coordinator leads dental health projects within the community and any YVFWC department and/ or clinic settings as directed by the Chief Dental Officer. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Registered Dental Hygienist Experience: No experience is required to train as a Community Dental Health Coordinator. One year of dental hygienist experience is required. Supervisory experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Current applicable state dental hygiene license. Current CPR Certification within 3 months of employment. Current Washington State driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Must complete ADA CDHC curriculum and internship program within 24 months from the start of the program. Effective management of patient fears and apprehensions; complete understanding of medical/emergency procedures; complete understanding of and skilled in the delivery of dental anesthetic; complete understanding of and skilled in placing restorations; knowledge of established hygiene concepts; ability to communicate effectively with patients including children and clinic personnel; ability to work well with others; requires considerable dexterity and coordination; Bilingual (English/Spanish); demonstrates the ability to communicate at level 10 on the ALTA language proficiency scale.
