VMware Senior Manager, Enterprise Marketing in Tokyo, Japan

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Develop a clear Enterprise Marketing Plan for the Enterprise territory in conjunction with the Sales Directors, Solutions team, SE team, Professional Services Organization and entire marketing team

  • Develop and execute relevant programs focused on enterprise market segment, strategic customers and executives and to increase customer attraction and demand for VMware offerings.

  • Lead the team to Implement these programs with measurable results in high quality leads, marketing sourced and touched pipeline, and effective follow-up through the VMware sales organization.

  • Oversee the organization and implementation of executive marketing events and programs in Japan

  • Primary interface, planning and interlock with enterprise sales and specialist teams responsible for key territories and accounts

  • Understand the company’s strategy and implement it within the context of the Enterprise customer space

  • Develop comprehensive customer marketing plan to amplify success stories across various communication channels.

VMware Briefing Centre requirements:

  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies to drive growth, revenue and operational efficiency of VMware Briefing Center in Tokyo

  • Enhance the briefing program as a strategic customer engagement program to drive sales to close business and improve the VBC customer experience

  • Maintain high quality engagement with all stakeholders of VMware Briefing Center in Tokyo at local, regional and global level

  • Drive operational efficiency through systems and process improvement

  • Management of VBC projects in support of the briefing program as required. (i.e., budget management, catering, procurement)

  • Performance measurement – Define, track, analyze and manage all significant program metrics

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Solid marketing capability, working closely with customers and end users to represent the company and products.

  • Ability to manage budgets & funding sources with accountability

  • Metrics/ROI focused and knows how to generate leads & track to closed loop

  • Understands sales & marketing integration

  • Proven understanding of the Enterprise ‘customer journey’ and how to engage with IT decision makers

  • Has implemented marketing strategies and produced the associated marketing programs & materials with proven results.

  • Although not a technician, the candidate will be able to appreciate and understand the technical issues surrounding VMware products and technologies

  • Ability to manage key stakeholder relationships at all levels, in a matrixed MNC organization

  • Aptitude to work within the complex environment of disruptive innovation, and disruptive technologies

  • Initiative, a sense of urgency, ability to multi task, and a motivated attitude

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and CRM software

Essential Experience:

  • 5 - 8 years in a marketing role

  • Strong and current regional marketing skills and experience gained with international software or hardware vendors

  • Experience in strategic marketing management & market analysis – demonstrated ability to build & execute an enterprise marketing strategy with clear goals & objectives to align to business objectives and support the growth targets

  • Strong strategic planning and execution, project management skills and an ability to effectively lead teams from all parts of the business


  • Professional marketing qualification essential

  • Degree/ MBA or equivalent industry experience
