The role purpose of the Director of Revenue Cycle Systems is to provide services related to revenue cycle system project management. This includes implementation, optimization, management of project team, application support governance, budget/time tracking, policy and procedure, change management and vendor management. The Director of Revenue Cycle Systems is integral in ensuring that the strategic vision of the IT organization is realized and communicating with external departments and executive leadership on performance and departmental goals.

  • Project Management; Develops and manages project schedules, implementation timelines, training plans, go-live plans and support models of revenue cycle applications and ancillary services for conversion, optimization, increased revenue and cost control initiatives

  • Change management; representation in the governance of change control process and ensuring that revenue cycle resources strictly adhere to the standards set by governing bodies

  • Vendor management; builds relationships with vendors and holds vendors accountable to service delivery

  • Budget/Time tracking; provides monthly budget review and tracking, reporting, and prepares escalations for budge extension requests and approvals

  • Act as a Liaison between revenue cycle staff, department leads/managers and other IT team members. Work alongside IT Leadership on cross departmental initiatives and serve as a resource for recommendations and presents to senior and executive leadership on initiatives

  • Provide leadership and direction to revenue cycle system team resources and direct reports, including time tracking, metrics reporting, performance reviews, MBOs, and adherence to corporate and departmental policy and procedure.

  • Policy and procedure; develops and periodically reassesses revenue cycle policy and procedure and holds staff accountable to adherence. Develops and periodically reassesses standard operating procedures of the revenue cycle systems department. Manage and guide testing and auditing of Revenue Cycle applications using appropriate methodologies and tools

  • Is recognized as subject matter expert in the revenue cycle application services and system administration. Inspects work for exactness and conformance to policies and procedures. Understand the business processes involved in customer projects and translates this knowledge into an effective implementation

  • Maintain confidentiality, HIPAA compliance and promote administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to ensure the proper protection of corporate resources and patient data

  • Create and implement best practices throughout the organization and identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies

  • Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required

  • Provide Revenue Cycle System support after hours as an escalation resource to department staff

  • Travel to all facility locations as required

  • Perform additional duties as business needs required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent technical work experience within the healthcare industry

  • 8-10 years’ experience in Revenue Cycle Systems or Practice Management, required

  • 3-5 years’ experience with Cerner Patient Accounting or Epic Resolute preferred

  • Experience with EMR/EHR build, implementation and optimization required

  • Experience in healthcare business intelligence and reporting required

  • Experience with SQL Server databases, Crystal Reports & MS Reporting Services, preferred

  • Knowledge EHR/EDIS Systems, preferred

  • Position requires excellent written and oral communication
