Repair machinery or mechanical equipment.
Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble .
Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
Replace broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs; preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Shop environment, in which mechanical equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components. Must be able to stand and bend for long periods. Must be able to push and test vehicles and heavy objects. Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Occasional use of safety glasses and hearing protection required.

High School diploma or equivalent.
Machinery Maintenance Mechanics shall have three years' experience working on industrial equipment and / or three years' doing metal fabrication; be able to obtain and retain a forklift operator’s license; and have a valid state-issued driver’s license.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Work on this contract is performed at the Red River Army Depot. Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.
