Job Description

CACI is looking for a skilled Systems Security Engineer in the Sterling, VA area. Join CACI to use your skill sets to help your team with testing and screening security software and for monitoring networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • As a System Security Engineer you will work with a team of engineers and government representatives to implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.

More About the Role:

  • Identify and define system security requirements.

  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.

  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.

  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement.

  • Review Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) and other cyber security bulletins.

  • Assess security implications of new technologies or technology upgrades to planned and existing systems.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related subject and five to seven years of related experience.


  • 4-8 years of experience in a security engineer role.

Required Skills:

  • Proven work experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer.

  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems.

  • Detailed technical knowledge of database and Linux operating system security.

  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.

  • Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools.

  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.

  • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols.

  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
