DaVita Medical Group Medical Economics Analyst in St. Petersburg, Florida


The Medical Economics Analyst will work closely with the Medical Economics and Decision Support teams to analyze medical and financial data, help to ensure the quality of financial data used in management decisions, and document reporting processes.


  • Prepare periodic deliverables and maintain internal process documentation:

  • Provide analysis of medical cost trends to assist management in assessing financial outcomes

  • Extract and interpret data utilizing SQL and third-party reporting systems

  • Develop reporting utilizing Excel, Access, Tableau, or SSRS

  • Prepare documentation affecting completeness and accuracy throughout the process of data import, extraction, transformation, and reporting

  • Maintain the documentation of financial reporting processes and data sources

  • Maintain internal reporting metrics and tracking mechanisms

  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses as necessary

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Medical Economics to support other areas of Finance including Decision Support, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Accounting

  • Exhibits aptitude for learning about varying business units and departments outside of Finance to ensure an understanding of downstream implications to external and internal reporting

  • Provides input to management team on process improvement opportunities

  • Exhibits self-accountability and proactive awareness in regards to emerging trends in data needs

  • Always maintains the appropriate level of privacy and confidentiality in accordance with Corporate policy guidelines, HIPAA, SOX, and any other regulatory guidelines as applicable

  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate DaVita Medical Group’s (DMG) commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems or other pertinent analytical field



  • Entry Level


  • 1-3 Years of Accounting, IT Audit, Financial Analysis, healthcare analytics or related experience

  • Prior managed care, healthcare, and/or health insurance experience


  • Proficiency in calculating standard healthcare metrics

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL is required

  • Strong knowledge of other Microsoft applications including Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Experience with SSRS, Tableau, or other data visualization tools

  • Demonstrates knowledge of software applications supporting FP&A, Accounting, and other finance functions

  • Demonstrates understanding of terminology, complex processes, and the suite of reporting applications that support financial and operational decision making

  • Knowledge of GAAP-based financial reporting and Sarbanes Oxley

  • Knowledge of database applications, information systems processes, and ERP systems

  • Strong attention to detail on all work performed

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and use independent judgment
