Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Raymond James is hiring a mid-level Alternative Investments Associate to conduct quantitative and qualitative due diligence analysis and make recommendations in order to provide our high-net worth clients with a platform of non-traditional investment opportunities.

Advanced Excel-based analysismethods include:

Financial modeling, risk analysis, and validating investment merits of private equity, real estate, hedge funds, managed futures, and other non-traditional investment vehicles.

The ideal contributor will:

  • Have confidence in makingrecommendations and presentations to Financial Advisors and other constituents,based on the analysis conducted.

  • Maintain frequent contact withcurrent as well as prospective fund managers; and support our financialadvisors with requests related to alternative investments.

  • Retain latitude for un-revieweddecision making and autonomywith respect to fund manager interactions in addition to being a keyparticipant in product recommendations.

  • Playa role in the product development process by exploring new investmentstructures and proactively seeking new investment opportunities for platformdistribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzingthe investment merits and risks of nontraditional investments, with a focus onprivate equity funds and real estate funds, as well as their associatedsuitability for RJ clients.

  • Preparingproduct approval memos/presentations for use by the Alternative InvestmentGroup Product Approval Committee, comprised of senior management.

  • Conductingonsite due diligence for existing and prospective alternative investmentproducts.

  • Transferringproduct knowledge and expertise by communicating with and educating otherdepartments within AIG (e.g., operations and marketing) in addition to directfinancial advisor communication.

  • Composingand disseminating due diligence and investment updates regarding existingalternative investment funds for use by financial advisors.

  • Jobscope includes performing quantitative and qualitative due diligence as well asinvestment analysis (e.g., financial modeling, benchmarking, risk analysis,etc.) on non-traditional investment products, preparing detailed productapproval memos and recommendations, conducting meetings and conversations withfund managers to determine the investment merits and risk profile of an assetclass. The job scope also includes making product recommendations andpresentations as appropriate.

  • Associatewill play a key role in decisions to approve alternative investments for saleto high net worth clients. As part of the process, associate will decide whichfunds warrant in depth diligence versus those that do not. Associate will alsoplay a key role in decisions to discontinue offering specific products as wellas approval decisions of entire asset classes.

  • Authoringtimely strategy whitepapers.

  • Performsother duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Financialanalysis

  • Complexinvestment products and securities markets in general

  • MSOffice applications

  • Bloomberg

  • PerTrac

  • Riskand return metrics (e.g., Sharpe, Sortino, alpha, correlation, etc.

  • Hedgefund databases is a plus.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • MinimumDegree Required:

  • Bachelor’sDegree

  • Anyequivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved byHuman Resources.

  • MinimumExperience:

  • 2years relevant experience; 3 years preferred
