Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: This position will support current clinical trials within the Regions Hospital Critical Care Research Center. The Center oversees all research activities for the Emergency Medical Services program, the Emergency Department, the Burn Center, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and the Adult and Pediatric Level 1 Trauma programs. Primary job duties will include primary oversight of data entry, database maintenance, correspondence with regulatory entities, and other research-related job duties as assigned. The research assistant may assist the research coordinator and research project manager with study subject identification, recruitment, and enrollment. The research assistant will also provide administrative support to the current research staff. This individual will report to the Research Project Manager, and will receive daily direction from the Research Coordinator.



Associate’s Degree with 1-2 years of college coursework in a medical related field required.

Bachelor’s degree preferred.


6 months of patient care experience in a clinical setting preferred..

Previous clinical research experience desired but not essential

Knowledge, Skills

& Abilities:

Demonstrated proficiency with data entry for large, detailed projects in an analytical field required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; previous experience with electronic patient care records and electronic clinical databases preferred.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patient care providers, regulatory bodies, and CCRC staff.

Ability to participate in research subject identification, recruitment, and enrollment under the supervision of the research coordinator.

Active problem solving, flexibility, self-motivation and self-learning, with a desire to work with diverse workforce and subject populations. Must be able to work independently with a high attention to detail.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the metro area on a regular basis.

Desired but non-essential experience: data analysis; regulatory requirements for clinical research


Current licensure as a health care provider preferred (MA, PCA, EMT-B, or higher).
