As an IT team member of a dynamic diverse group of application developers supporting Environmental Services division of the Metropolitan Council, you would be growing your skills in custom development, purchased application support, vendor interactions, integration, and mobile applications. Hiring Salary Range for Application Developer 1: $ 60,174.00 - $ 68,266.00 Hiring Salary Range for Application Developer 2: $ 65,042.00 - $ 73,819.00 About our Information Services Department: This department provides the technology, innovation, and best practices that support the security, operations, maintenance, and development of the Metropolitan Council's technology. What you would do in this job: At the Applications Developer 1 level: Coordinate work efforts with other developers and project leads. Work from specifications to develop software programs and applications using standard software development tools and programming languages primarily in the Microsoft .net platform. With the guidance of more experienced staff perform maintenance and minor enhancements on existing applications. Write and test program code to extend system functionality. Assist in creation of test environments and scenarios, execute tests and document results. Work with staff to ensure newly installed applications meet user requirements. Compile and write documentation of program development. Perform or assist troubleshooting and diagnosing application performance problems using standard tools and utilities. At the Applications Developer 2 level: Coordinate work efforts with customer representatives and project leads. Gather and define user requirements and business rules, develop requirements document and/or specifications; design flow and function; translates into logical system processes. Design from written specifications and develop software applications using standard software development tools and programming languages applicable to the platform being used. Maintain and make minor enhancements on existing applications; write and test program code to extend system functionality. Assist in creating test environments and scenarios for unit systems and interface testing; execute tests and documents results; ensure newly installed applications meet user requirements. Compile and write documentation of program development and revisions. Troubleshoot and diagnose application performance problems using standard tools and utilities; corrects identified problem.
