Engineering is a broad field that is divided into various disciplines and sub-disciplines. The disciplines of engineering can be divided into five main categories, chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering. There are also branches, or sub-disciplines, of these main disciplines that offer specialized knowledge and skills in a particular expertise; for example, refrigeration specialization. As part of the Prepared Foods Engineering leadership team, this individual will utilize their experience and knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology managing a team of specialized engineers which support the scope and budgeting generation, design, construction, and project management of large scale capital projects within the Prepared Foods manufacturing network and the Warehousing & Transportation network for Tyson corporate. This team focuses on applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
ESSENTIAL CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and manage the day to day operational aspects of multiple equipment and process focused projects.
Responsible for personnel management to include hiring, developing, and promoting personnel.
Lead team of specialized Engineers, providing direction and goal setting for team.
Provide daily direction of goals and deliverable to support the broader Prepared Engineering Team.
Maintain knowledge of and familiarizing all Team Members with Tyson's personnel, training, purchasing, and safety programs and procedures.
Interface daily with Prepared Foods Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Plant, and Warehouse/Transportation network team members.
Monitor, report, and distribute reporting metrics to cross-functional teams regarding the status and progress of team projects.
Review project CIRs for validity, scope, design QA, and network impact.
Review project metrics for reasonableness, improve project control through process improvement and user training.
Ensure integrity of system and reporting of data from multiple sources and programs.
Guide and assist reliability team to measure and model data to predict equipment and system time to failure, time between failures, and time between repairs, and to use historical data to forecast resource utilization based on capital spending allocations.
Guide and assist operations and engineering teams to adhere to Tyson Prepared Foods Engineering design specifications.
Create ad-hoc reports, analysis, and presentations as requested/needed.

EDUCATION: BS in Engineering, (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Packaging, etc.)
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 8 years of applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 4 years in the food industry, or 15+ years of experience in progressive leadership roles.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Advanced knowledge and working use of computer programs, including spreadsheets, databases. Broad knowledge of SAP.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent communication skills to multiple internal department leaders, plant and warehouse leadership, and occasional executive leadership.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Detail oriented individual with strong analytical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Strong organizational and time management skills. Project Management, Maintenance, Maintenance Parts Management, Manufacturing Plant Operations, Distribution, and Continuous Improvement. Proven leadership skills a must.
SUPERVISE: Direct: 4 Indirect: NA
TRAVEL: 30-50%, Multi-days stays required; Overnight stays required; ability to egress uneven surfaces in construction and plant environments safely and easily.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
PREFERRED EDUCATION: MBA, MS or ME in Engineering. PE license preferred.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 12+ years of applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 5+ years in a leadership role.
PREFERRED COMPUTER SKILLS: CAD, Revit, and/or other design software systems.
