Sets up and operates metal band sawing machines to cut metal stock to dimensions with constant supervision by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Constant on going training to achieve the requirements of the job including:
Reading job traveler for specifications such as material, type, and size of stock, and dimensions to be cut.
Obtaining and transferring stock to machine by forklift or overhead crane.
Installing saw blade and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation; setting saw blade angle to obtain desired angle cuts; setting stops and guides to control dimension of cut; positioning and securing stock against stops or in feeding device using straps or chains; turning valve to start flow of coolant against cutting area; starting machine and observing operation.
Measuring work for conformance to specifications.
Marking and identifying data on workpiece.
Steel Stamping letters and numbers on work piece by hammer blow.
Replacing finished work on pallets or barrels.
Replacing defective cutting blade.
Preparing data sheets of cut material and remnants.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of Company.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
