Departmental Overview

  • The Accounting Policy and Assurance Group (APAG), is responsible for (i) establishing and implementing Credit Suisse Group's accounting policies as contained in the Group Accounting and Reporting Manual (GARM) and (ii) provides mentorship and interpretation to technical accounting inquiries from throughout the firm.

  • APAG consists of

o 4 regional teams (Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Switzerland)

o Accounting Policy Development

o New Policy Implementation

o Transaction Support (support new business initiatives)

Main duties/responsibilities of the role:

The role will form part of the APAC APAG team, led by Jessica Morrison. The person will keep abreast of USGAAP, IFRS and ideally Swiss GAAP developments across various accounting topics. This will involve:

Accounting Advice and Support

  • Supporting the new policy implementation team with relevant implementation initiatives

o Resolving accounting issues

o Preparing analyses of relevant standards

  • Providing accounting advice and support to across various functions, including financial accounting, product controls etc

  • Participating in APAG team meetings to discuss accounting developments, as well as current issues

  • Assisting with the resolution of accounting inquiries

o Ensuring that all accounting inquiries are addressed on time and are appropriately communicated and documented

o Ensuring consistency of accounting treatment globally

Accounting Policy Development

  • Maintaining frequent communication with the regional and new policy implementation teams in order to identify potential impacts on policy development

  • Monitoring standard setters and preparing communications to APAG and other impacted groups

  • Co-ordinating the distribution and communication of draft accounting policies in a manner that ensures that all impacted parties have a clear and consistent understanding of the changes

  • Soliciting feedback from impacted parties and incorporating agreed feedback into draft policies

  • Co-ordinating sign off and approval of final policies

  • Providing a summary of key policy changes to senior management where appropriate

Education and experience:

Essential

  • You have a Degree in Accounting.

  • You have 8–10 years post graduate experience.

  • You have experience in US GAAP & IFRS accounting and financial reporting.

Desirable

  • Experience in investment or commercial banking

  • Experience in SEC reporting

  • Exposure to US GAAP

  • Exposure to IFRS
