The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for leading all marketing, advertising and promotional activities for Luitpold Animal Health. The Senior Marketing Manager is a self-directed marketing professional who is responsible for developing strong long and short-term brand, marketing, promotional, and new product development strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead development of the annual brand plan. Implement process for annual review and updates by working across functional stakeholders to gain alignment and buy-in.

  • Lead development, execution and management of the brand marketing strategy, including tactics, product positioning and competitive analysis for current and future Animal Health products.

  • Coordinate new product launches, line extensions, promotions, pricing, packaging, advertising, market research and analysis of customer trends.

  • Lead and direct various marketing communications with outside advertising agencies, projects, brand/product videos, and advertising (print, digital, etc.) to increase sales.

  • Partner with Medical to develop promotional medical education and KOL plan, publication planning and lifecycle planning.

  • Support Business Development activities to help evaluate potential opportunities for Animal Health.

  • Work closely with Sales to develop and manage customer strategies.

  • Manage marketing budget against plan.


  • Champion the development and implementation of a strategic market research plan to achieve business objectives and drive future business growth.

  • Use financial data to make sound decisions that achieve key strategic initiatives

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to drive development of accurate sales forecasts.

  • Generate insights from multiple data resources to guide future strategies.

  • Develop competitive intelligence plan to monitor competitive environment.

  • Measure and track product performance and evaluate ROI of marketing activities.


  • Develop promotional marketing literature, programs and advertising campaigns to drive sales.

  • Develop new creative campaigns and messages, as appropriate to differentiate the brand.

  • Develop non-personal promotion (NPP) tactics including public relations, digital, convention/congress activities and third party organizations to drive awareness and advocacy.

  • Partner with training to ensure sales force effectiveness in understanding and executing marketing strategies and tactics.


  • Direct, develop and coach team members to optimize performance and support their professional development. Create individual growth and development plans for each.

  • Direct workflow; assign clear roles and responsibilities aligned with capabilities to enhance efficiency.

  • Manage vendor relationships and identify any needs for additional resources.


  • Monitor utilization and inventory levels of all Animal Health Marketing materials.

  • Coordinating supplies and materials associated with National Sponsorships.

  • Ensure adherence to current MLR processes, identify and recommend process improvements.

  • Identify and recommend new processes to enhance work efficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • BA/BS required; MBA preferred

  • 5+ years animal health pharmaceutical marketing experience in product management with demonstrated increase in responsibility and scope; strong working knowledge of marketing principles, professional promotion, sales process and budget management.

  • Equine experience preferred.

  • Proven track record developing marketing strategies and tactics to achieve sales and market share growth.

  • Past supervision and leadership of a team preferred.

  • Proactive leadership skills with strong business and analytical acumen.

  • Knowledge of FDA and regulatory environment; strong understanding of US animal health pharmaceutical business.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to build alignment, collaborate, inform and negotiate to achieve business objectives.

  • Strong Computer/Microsoft skills

  • Travel up to 20% annually for customer presentations, trade shows, etc.
