Teledyne Technologies Field Service Test Technologist - China in Shanghai Optech, China
Teledyne Optech office in Beijing, China is looking to fill the position of Field Services Test Technologist to service and provide maintenance to LIDAR and image sensors. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong customer service skills, comfortable working independently in a fast paced technical environment and be able to travel to domestic and international destinations on momentary notice.
Successful candidate will be required to travel to Teledyne Optech, Vaughan, Ontario, Canada office in order to receive on-going training.
Position Summary and Responsibilities
Responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, testing, upgrading, calibrating, maintaining and repairing of airborne and mobile LIDAR and image sensors, as well as other survey products.
Interact effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and LIDAR technology end users in order assist internal and external customers.
In an effort to provide superior customer support use professional judgement to identify, define and develop an understanding of any technical product issues and drive complex problem resolution with support of others as required.
Apply optical and electro-mechanical aptitude in order to perform highly skilled troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, failure analysis, visual inspections, conduct electro-optical measurements, problem solving and diagnosing problems. Possess system level understanding for troubleshooting and client assistance purposes.
Perform board and system level tests
Replace failed components and subassemblies.
Use a proprietary software to perform data analysis to aid in troubleshooting
As part of training, participate in manufacturing and testing of LIDAR products and peripherals
Willing to work to demand to resolve urgent client issues
Responsible for documenting test results, producing reports and recording relevant information within issue tracking systems
Show empathy and display a positive attitude while communicating with clients in a clear, concise and professional manner in order to understand their needs and provide comfort
Maintain a high standard of quality and meet or exceed the response timelines within support contracts
Participate in goal setting and continuous improvement initiatives
Follow standard operating procedures, processes and company policies
Display strong initiative and use independent professional judgement to make recommendations and adjust service plan in order to provide the most effective solution
Provide suggestions to improve products based on experience servicing Teledyne Optech clients.
Coordinate and independently perform domestic and international travel on a moments notice in order to support Teledyne Optech customer’s (up to 90% of the time)

Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technician, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related discipline
Excellent oral and written communication in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Fluency in other language is an asset
3-5 years of electro-optical experience in manufacturing or service environment preferred
Familiarity with both analog and digital circuits
Enthusiasm and empathy displayed through previous customer service experience
Strong sense of urgency and initiative
Prior experience in a fast-paced technology environment preferred
Strong computer skills with proven ability to independently learn new tools
Experience with CRM preferred
Strong attention to detail, decision making, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to adapt to new tools, techniques, technologies
Ability to effectively multitask and to work under pressure
Able to work outside of regular hours when needed including evenings, weekends or holidays as required; Adaptable, Flexible
Ability to work effectively independently, in a team environment and with cross functional groups across the company
Experience with aerial imagining operations, surveying, flight planning and establishing ground control is an asset
Ability to travel internationally and possesses a valid passport
Valid driver’s license is an asset
Comfortable flying as a passenger and performing duties in small aircrafts is an asset
Ability to lift occasionally lift, pull up or drag up to 35kg
