Position Category: Finance & Accounting Company/Location (search) : Country (Full Name): : United States Job DescriptionAmazon is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join its Direct Tax Reporting team in Seattle, Washington supporting the Worldwide CapEx team. The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment. The mission of the Worldwide CapEx team is to timely, accurately, and efficiently report the income tax impact of global CapEx to our internal customers. This position will be responsible for analyzing CapEx transactions for ASC 740 income tax provision and US federal/state tax compliance purposes. Examples of relevant transactions include depreciation of fixed assets, building and airplane lease adjustments, and software development costs on a significant scale. A successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills; a strong attention to detail; and a mastery of Excel and other technology tools to automate the organization of vast amounts of data into useful information. S/he can also prioritize and manage multiple projects, as well hire and develop staff, in a deadline-driven environment. Additional Responsibilities * Assist in preparation of Amazon's ASC 740 income tax provision and US federal/state tax returns as it relates to CapEx transactions by analyzing US GAAP financial statement data and applying knowledge of US corporate tax law to calculate book-tax differences. * Prepare and/or review deferred tax rollforward for book-tax differences. * Coordinate information requests with internal and external service providers, stakeholders, and auditors to ensure accurate and timely inclusion within various tax reporting deliverables. * Identify and develop process improvements, which increase efficiency and scalability of data. * Develop forecast models for scenario and trending analysis. * Draft and/or review tax technical memorandums. * Participate in ad-hoc or special projects that are cross functional, such as working with finance, accounting, and technology teams. Advise business teams by communicating tax implications for new initiatives. * Hire, develop, and manage India-based global team members. Basic Qualifications* Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution with an Accounting or similar focus. * 4+ years of US income taxation experience, specifically US corporate taxation and consolidations. Preferred Qualifications * Certified Public Accountant certification. * Master's degree with a focus in Taxation. * Strong tax technical knowledge and proficiency with accounting and analytical skills. * Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. * Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. * Proven project management experience in a fast-paced environment. * Self-starter with strong desire to help improve processes for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy. * Experience with Corptax or equivalent tax software. * Experience with Oracle Fixed Assets, BNA Fixed Assets, or equivalent fixed assets software. * Experience with SQL or other database language. * Experience with RIA, CCH and other research software or tax planning software. * Excellent computer skills, specifically with managing large data within MS Excel or Access. * Previous public accounting or large corporate industry experience.
