We're looking for outstanding Senior Programming Writers (Technical Writers) with a demonstrated ability to work with developers to document our APIs, software architecture, and other developer documentation. This person must be comfortable working with a team of top-notch developers and collaborating with our research teams. We're looking for people who innovate, and love solving hard problems. In this role you will provide developer documentation support across Prime Air. You will gain visibility into all the moving parts of the Prime Air vehicle software, firmware, and architecture. You will work directly with engineers and research scientists to develop a written body of technical knowledge across multiple technical teams at all levels of the Prime Air technology stack. You will be a strong effective communicator through both spoken and written communications and have the ability to be an independent and highly motivated individual. The ideal candidate has a technical background that allows him or her to easily interact with software design engineers and product managers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical publications. Key Responsibilities: Drive documentation planning with engineering teams Apply documentation design standards to produce high-quality documentation for various software Write or edit code samples to support documentation Export Control License This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf. Basic Qualifications A minimum of 7 years as a technical writer in a relevant field Experience designing and delivering developer documentation Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Software Development or relevant technical field Demonstrated ability to write clearly and with grammatical accuracy Excellent communications skills including, presenting, editing, and writing as well as accuracy and attention to detail required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex projects with tight deadlines and time-critical deliverables through their entire life cycle Experience interviewing experts, such as mechanics, software developers, or engineers, to elicit essential content Experience writing for a product organization Experience using multiple authoring tools Prior experience with preparing graphic designs including selecting photographs, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material Preferred Qualifications A degree in computer science, math/statistics, or a related field Familiarity with one or more compiled or scripting languages, such as C#, Python, Java, or Ruby Prior experience managing the review and release process for original and revised documents and change requests as a document administrator Experience developing and delivering training Track record of improving processes and tools, contributing to the effectiveness of the program a
