POSITION SUMMARY The Residential Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents, staff and visitors; and provides quality services and structured programming designed to promote successful community living. As a member of the PHS Housing team, we are committed to the mission and vision of providing supportive services that promote proactive social and independent living skills while employing effective business practices that support the success of the housing division. Specifically, the Residential Specialist is responsible for providing services, security and monitoring for the Seattle based capital hill properties, and for suggesting and recommending changes in program, policy and procedure as it pertains to their area of responsibilities. POSITION DUTIES & TASKS Maintain Program & Facility Safety Conduct ongoing security checks. Secure premises as necessary. Investigate situations as they arise. Review security tapes. report any problems or issues in a timely manner. Conduct drug and alcohol monitoring including breathalyser and urinalysis testing. Eject non-residents from the facilities, as indicated. Maintain Documentation Maintain documentation and report any problems or issues in a timely manner to supervisory staff. Prepare a written report daily summarizing any problems or issues identified. Participant Engagement Supports clinical and/or residential staff in the provision of clinical services. Advocates for client needs. Assists clients to obtain community services including but not limited to healthcare, social services, housing, employment training and employment. Supports clients' pursuit of recovery activities. Utilizes life experiences and training to provide hope and encouragement for recovery to individuals receiving behavioral health services. Communication & Collaboration Coordinate with the Facility Managers, RMHC Case Managers and Program Manager to ensure issues and problems are addressed in a timely fashion. Work in cooperation with the Pioneer Counseling Staff to identify problems, and potential solutions. Work with the Facility Managers to identify and resolve maintenance issues. WORKING CONDITIONS Work Setting, including hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit or stand for long periods of time, communicate with other persons, and are required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Program participants may display aggressive, threatening, disrespectful or violent behavior. Exposure to janitorial and maintenance chemicals. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens, viruses and bacteria. Schedule (i.e. hours and days): Expected schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. Schedule involves varied hours and days, covering additional shifts and weekends. Travel Requirements: Current Washington State Driver's License, and insurable driving record. Tools & Equipment: Operate computer hardware and accessories , copy machine, phone, van, mop, broom and various other janitorial tools. Customer Interactions: Knowing oneself to the extent that one can differentiate one's own needs from those of the participants. Interactions with participants occur on a daily basis. QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED At least one year experience in human services, preferably working with homeless
