Newell Brands Key Account Manager, Technical Apparel – Amazon in Seattle, Washington

Position Title: KAM, Amazon

Reports to: NAM

Location: Seattle, WA

The Key Account Manager (KAM) position is responsible for developing and executing a collaborative growth agenda between Newell Brands and Amazon. Successful candidates will work in collaboration with Sales Planning and Marketing functions to develop sustainable growth strategies.


  • Deliver consumption and sales growth targets for Newell Brands and Amazon.

  • Build strong relationships with Vendor Manager, SVS, and in-stock teams.

  • Achieves and exceeds strategic targets and profitability.

  • Maximizes, maintains and defends the profitability targets of the brand across all accounts.

  • Plans, schedules, and facilitates seasonal selling calendars with Amazon with a strong emphasis on managing an extended, collaborative Go To Market calendar.

  • Attends regular sales meetings, prepares sales reports, sell through information and other necessary information on Amazon, plus other information as requested by the business, supporting sales management where requested in formatting and delivering the sales meetings.

  • Negotiates and manages trade funds to create customer and company value by consistently measuring and enforcing trade terms and identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Collaborates with sales planning and marketing teams to provide and explain market data to the customer

  • Leverages our brands and product mix to improve profitability and meet customer, shopper, and Newell Brands targets


  • Maintains deep and broad knowledge of the Amazon business to be able to create exceptional value based on the strategies, positioning to consumers, and the priorities of various purchase decision-makers.

  • Prepares detailed and strategic business plans for Amazon that align to the Brand and the customer’s objectives and strategies.

  • Makes professional, thorough, technical, product presentations to Amazon for product cycle introductions.

  • Work cross functionally with Marketing, Product and leadership resources to meet account performance objectives and customer expectation.

  • Analyzes sell in and sell out performance to deliver seasonal expectations and annual strategic business plans.

  • Delivers customer, consumer and sell through market intelligence to Sales leaders and key cross functional partners providing insight to range performance and monthly forecast achievement

  • Performs such other activities as may be assigned by Sales leadership and with oversight from Sales leadership.

Account Management

  • Strategically contacts and manages customers on a weekly basis

  • Builds strong professional relationships with all buyers, merchandisers, and in-stock managers

  • Seasonally executes sell in meetings to Amazon demonstrating a full competency in brand and product knowledge and drives desired and planned assortment selection by account.

  • Manages and influences correct product positioning by account and door and manages relationships with key account partners to influence key decisions.

  • Acts as the primary point of contact for accounts within the Marmot/ExOfficio Brands.

  • Maintains regular daily or weekly contact with Sales leadership regarding sales updates, sell through reporting, issues and opportunities.

  • Proposes new opportunities and strategies to Sales leadership.

  • Performs such other activities as may be assigned by Sales leadership and with oversight from Sales leadership.


  • Maintains profitability by coordinating between the corporate headquarters and customers to minimize returns and credits and other costs to the business.

  • Uses marketing astutely and with due consideration to return on investment.

  • Manages expenses against budget.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of experience.

  • BS/BA or University degree in Business or similar field, MBA a plus

  • Minimum 6+ years of direct and hands-on experience in sales and/or channel marketing

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications. Ability to budget and forecast, using Excel.

  • History of setting and delivering a growth age

  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management, clients and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to use independent judgment in performing all duties of the position.

  • Previous experience with multi-functional organizations.

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively address all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
