Crowley Maritime Director - Naval Architecture in Seattle, Washington

Job Overview Leads the operation and advancement of the Naval Architecture team in both a technical and administrative capacity. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the Naval Architecture staff with direct reports from principals and sub-group managers. Coordinates application of methods, processes, tools, and standards to support project execution; including coordination of new technologies, regulations, and requirements that affect the group and the organization. Facilitates the technical advancement, project management capability, and client/business unit interaction of the group. Manages group utilization and resource allocations considering project priorities and overall group development strategies. Coordinates time-off, training, and performance reviews of the NA team. Applies broad NA background and knowledge to guide project deliverable integration with other marine disciplines including mechanical, electrical, design, and ocean engineering. Required Experience 10 plus years of NA-focused consulting engineering with demonstrating specific professional expertise and broad project engineering experience within the discipline, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES: Proficient in application of standard engineering tools, methods, and processes; Microsoft Office products; and 2D/3D CAD to the development of technical/engineering documents. COMPETENCIES: * Ability to effectively mentor, coach, train, supervise and review employees. * Ability to communicate effectively verbally, graphically, and in writing. * Ability to translate and develop client requirements into clear project execution strategies. * Ability to interpret and apply maritime specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. * Ability to scope, guide, and review project work for compliance, completeness, and constructability. Required Education Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering or a related engineering field. Professional Engineering license in naval architecture/marine engineering preferred.
