Geisinger Health System Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician in SCRANTON, Pennsylvania

JOB TITLE: Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician

LOCATION: Geisinger Community Medical Center

WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings/Nights-7:00pm-7:30am with every other weekend and holiday

WORK TYPE: Full Time (0.9 FTE; 72 hours bi-weekly; 3-12 hour shifts/week)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors on multiple floors and settings. Provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The Cardiac Monitoring technician completes the admission set-up of telemetry monitors for the clinical units and performs monitor discharge and maintenance. The Cardiac Monitoring Technician has completed a Cardiac Dysrhythmia Course and successfully passed a rhythm analysis examination. He/she maintains a yearly competency validation skill in rhythm analysis.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED

EMT training preferred

Successful completion of Geisinger-Community Medical Center Clinical Education Dysrhythmia course and Dysryhthmia Analysis exam prior to completion of orientation.

Possess and maintain current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health care Providers (must be completed during orientation)

Knowledge of basic anatomy/physiology of the heart. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clinicians, and the general public. Ability to work under moderate pressure for extended periods of time. Ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non-emergent requests. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
