Position Purpose

For the first year: Under direct supervision, provides basic electrical or mechanical technical support to engineering or manufacturing in the development, analysis, and maintenance of processes, products, or equipment. Often works in a particular discipline. Performs basic testing and diagnoses of systems, production processes, controls, test procedures, instruments, equipment products, and product performances. Insures process controls are in operation and achieving desired effect. Monitors, adjusts, calibrates, maintains, and/or repairs simple manufacturing or test equipment, instruments, and fixtures. Typically requires a high school education and vocational training or equivalent and up to three years of work experience.

Following first year: Under limited supervision, in addition to the responsibilities of a Technician, provides routine support and preventive maintenance. Works cooperatively with other personnel and functions to exchange information and resolve problems. Provides training to quality production operators. Serves as a technical resource to production personnel and their functions. Interprets engineering blueprints, electrical diagrams, and documents related to assigned duties. Typically requires a

2 year degree or better in the electrical or electromechanical technologies or equivalent to three plus years work experience.

Principal Accountabilities

40%Daily Engagement of workforce through direction of work assignments, compensation, communication, recognition, development and coaching, etc…

15%Manage the workflow process associated with electronics and some electromechanical areas of the facility, including the ASRS system.

10%Develop preventative maintenance procedures to maintain equipment associated with electronics and limited electromechanical equipment throughout the facility; including the management of parts inventory and corrective actions.

10%Manage safety culture through training and observations

10%Liaison to contractors and Utilities department for projects and work orders

5% Develop and update PLC and HMI programs as required based on established guidelines and controls for this type of equipment

5%Ensure compliance of our measuring devices (i.e. Packers and Stockyards and Nebraska Department of Weights and Measures)

5%Responsible for department budget, including labor and operating expenses.


Required Qualifications

  • 2 year degree or better in electrical or electromechanical technologies or 3 years of experience with industrial process controls and industrial networking

  • Competency in basic electrical 24 and 120 volt AC and DC circuits

  • Basic knowledge of Windows XP/7 operating systems

  • Ability to read, write and speak English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food processing environment

  • Proficient in Allen-Bradley PLC Programming and troubleshooting, RsLogix 500/Control Logix 5000?Factory Talk View

  • Install and trouble shoot Industrial Networks- Ethernet base and components

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, general machine installation and repairs

  • Competency in basic electrical 24 and 120 volt AC and DC circuits

  • Basic knowledge of Windows XP/7 operating systems
