The Regional Strategic account manager will be responsible for the Account Management of major Regional Accounts and National Accounts, of which a number are highly complex and strategic in nature, that will drive highly significant business and financial impact for Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate. The role will be accountable for building and maintaining these customer relationships and providing customer insights on market intelligence, innovation, risk management and involved stakeholders, within mainly the Netherlands. He or she will maximize opportunities for the customers within the defined area of scope for the Cocoa & Chocolate Industry Segment.

The Regional Strategic account manager role sits on a team of 6 experienced colleagues and reports directly into the Sales Lead for Western Europe.

Major Tasks

Responsible for the commercial growth targets through the build, development & maintenance of internal / external customer / client relationships.

  • Responsible for the commercial volume and margin targets for the diverse direct customer base in line with budget and plans for continuous growth over 3 years;

  • Initiating, developing, and maintaining long/lasting customer working relationship with Regional Strategic and Direct Account customers.

Solution proposal and development / negotiation and sales execution

  • Maximizing the ability to deliver new/ existing value propositions and solutions ;

  • Supporting the translation of business plans and sales strategy into account specific growth plans.

Research and identify customer/ business needs

  • Researching and identifying customer requirements and expectations;

  • Possessing and continuously developing deep knowledge of the customer’s business strategy and .requirements

Performance Targets, Measurements & Results

  • Executing on defined/ quantifiable sales targets;

  • Participating in the development of annual fiscal year sales budget.


  • University or higher vocational degree

  • Fluent in Dutch and English, and potentially one other European language

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in sales (account management) and at least 4 years experience in leading cross functional teams within international B-to-B market (for instance food, ingredients, chemicals, metals)

  • Working experience in a complex matrix-organization;

  • Proven commercial track record, preferably with complex customers in the food industry;

  • Experience with customer initiated cross functional project management;

  • Consultative value based selling skills;

  • Strong Relating and Influencing Skills;

  • Team Builder and Inspiring Role Model.
