Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Skidmore Fund, the Sr. Associate Director, Parent Giving works to develop and promote giving among Skidmore’s current and past parents, key constituents of the college. The Senior Associate Director is responsible for managing annual fund strategies and results for the Annual Parents Fund, including both leadership giving through the Presidents Society and broad-based participation. Duties include developing and implementing the overall strategic plan for this program, setting and meeting key goals and metrics, and writing/producing requisite print, electronic, and social media materials. The Sr. Associate Director is also responsible for directing the Senior Family fundraising project, including volunteer recruitment, goal-setting and metrics, and oversight of solicitations. In addition, the Sr. Associate Director staffs the Parents Council, an insider volunteer group of 75+ families. Collaboration is very important in this role as the Sr. Associate Director will work closely with major gift fundraisers focused on building relationships and soliciting parents. The Sr. Associate Director will develop relationships with an assigned group of parent volunteers and prospective donors; identifying capacity, interests, and inclination, educating and cultivating these individuals, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors and volunteers appropriately. In addition, the Sr. Associate Director may take on additional projects and responsibilities for the Skidmore Fund as a whole. This Sr. Director may use the title “Director, Parent & Family Programs” externally.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required. Fundraising within a higher ed or non-profit setting. Recruiting, developing, and motivating volunteers. Willingness to personally develop philanthropic relationships with prospective donors and volunteerism, 5+ years of increasing, directly related or applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Excellent written and oral communication skills, high level of energy, organizational ability, interpersonal skills, and a comfort with handling multiple projects simultaneously.
